Knockout is coming to VALORANT soon. It’s a chaotic, fast-paced mode built for friends and fierce teamwork. An evolution of Team Deathmatch, Knockout puts a fresh spin on team-focused combat, rewarding coordinated plays and smart trades. If you love action and tactical teamwork, this is the perfect mode for you.
What is Knockout?
Knockout is a fast-paced, team-focused game mode where every action counts. Matches last 8 to 15 minutes, and to resurrect your teammates, you must take down your enemies. Momentum is constantly shifting. Sometimes your team has the upper hand, sometimes the enemy does.
There is a center line on the map. Teams will need to push together and trade with each other to succeed. Everything happens very quickly, so be cautious and work with your team to succeed. Coordinate with your squad to maximize every advantage and control the flow of the match as well.
Core gameplay
Here are some things you should know about the core gameplay in Knockout.
- Pre-round staging – Teams start in opposite spawn rooms with barriers up. There’s a brief setup phase to select loadout and coordinate with teammates on your strategy before barriers drop!
- Rally at the wall – Barriers drop. Teams push toward the center-line wall, and the staging line that separates territories. Crossing solo is a tactical mistake.
- Coordinate and execute – Use abilities to clear angles (smoke crossings, flash for teammates). Push together as a team and trade kills for each other.
- Kill and resurrect loop – Eliminating an enemy brings back a fallen teammate.
- Territory control – Capture orbs to shift the wall toward the enemy, expanding your territory and compressing theirs. Territorial advantage translates to better positioning and puts the enemy team at a disadvantage.
- Round resolution – Wipe the enemy team to win the round or the overtime mechanic triggers to force a resolution. The first team to win 4 rounds wins the match.
When is the game mode coming out?
The new game mode is officially coming out on March 18. Knockout launches alongside the new agent Miks, the latest patch notes, and an updated map rotation, bringing a lot of exciting new things to VALORANT.
