VCT EMEA star florescent announces her retirement from VALORANT, even if it is only for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Ava "florescent" Eugene is one of the most cracked aimers in all of VALORANT. The multiple-time Game Changers world champ and top tier Duelist player is VCT EMEA is calling it a career. At least for the time being. For now, all we know is that florescent is retiring from VCT competition for the rest of 2025.

We saw florescent truly burst onto the scene in 2023. She joined a stellar Version1 team that would eventually be picked up by Shopify Rebellion. We still see that SR team compete, but flor has moved on to the main leagues of the VCT.
After a 2023 and 2024 Game Changers Championship run, she left SR and shifted her focus to VCT EMEA. Apeks, a team that just rose into the league from the Ascension tournament, was the organization she'd call home. She blazed the trailer as the first woman to join the main VCT, setting a strong example for woman and marginalized genders that love the Riot Games FPS.

Unfortunately, things didn't pan out for Apeks during flor's tenure. They did not win a single VCT EMEA series from Kickoff through Stage 1. But that, per florescent, has nothing to do with her retiring from competition.
She states that personal and family emergencies, along with the struggle of her relocation to Germany, are her reasons for taking a step back. Florescent asks that there are no negative comments directed towards Apeks, its players, and its staff.
The organization itself commented with a long statement confirming what the 18-year-old announced. The expressed pride in florescent proving all the doubters wrong coming into the year with her incredible gameplay and thanked Riot Games for all of their support with the situation.
Stage 2 starts after Masters Toronto, which takes place in June. Apeks will look for a better performance in hopes of still making Champions Paris. But as of now, we are left to speculate who their Duelist will be with florescent's retirement.
