Sentinels vs Gen.G - VCT Masters Madrid Upper Round 1 recap

Map 1: Split

Split was Sentinels' first map of choice and the start was rocky with each team winning a round until 3-2. From this result, Gen.G took control of the game with several tactical variations on the attacking side. Muchkin contributed to this, in addition to the impact kills in closing and opening rounds, he also scored a clutch.

Everything was going well for Gen.G in attack but Sentinels still scored two more points in defence, ending the first half 8-4 in favour of the Koreans.

The second half starts with an interesting pistol. On the Sentinels side, johnqt discovers space on Split's spike site A, which surprises munchkin. However, Sentinels and johnqt thought they had everything under control when t3xture appeared and made a fantastic play.

From this round onwards, Gen.G took control of the match and only conceded one round. Even before closing the game, an initiative by Lakia to demonstrate the Koreans' confidence on the map. Gen.G closed the match 13-5.

Map 2: Lotus

Lotus was the second map and very similar to the first in that it is the balance that marks the beginning of both. The highlight at the start of the first half goes to Meteor from Gen.G, in addition to beautiful individual details, he also added a clutch for his team.

Round for Sentinels followed by Gen.G and vice versa. The story of the first half was very much like that. Individualities were coming to the fore and a sign of this were these sacy and zekken clutches.

Sentinels came out on top in the decisive moments and won the first half 7-5. Gen.G didn't play around in the second half and went after the disadvantage they had in the result. Munchkin incorporated Gen.G's desire to close the series in the second map into the pistol.

However, Sentinels once again felt comfortable on the map and with Zekken leading the team in opening up spaces, they again scored several rounds in a row. From 7-7 to 13-7, Sentinels were confident heading into the third and decisive map.

Map 3: Breeze

Unlike the previous two maps, at Lotus Gen.G started better and opened up a 4-0 lead on the defensive side. This sequence of rounds by the Koreans was stopped by an excellent entry by Sentinels at spike site A.

Unlike the previous two maps, at Lotus Gen.G started better and opened up a 4-0 lead on the defensive side. This sequence of rounds by the Koreans was stopped by an excellent entry by Sentinels at spike site A.

This round was an exception as Gen.G quickly returned to the match and was 8-1 in the result. Rounds in which the Koreans' Meteor did practically everything he wanted with Yoru. Sentinels still scored twice, but Gen.G showed a lot of comfort on the defensive side.

With the individualities standing out, the first half was won by Gen.G by 9-3.

Gen.G started the second half by winning the pistol, putting itself just a few steps away from winning the match. Sentinels did not find their footing in the second half, failed to score on the defensive side and thus lost the match 13-3.

In this way, Sentinels will face tomorrow the winner of the next game between LOUD and Paper Rex for a place in the grand final where Gen.G is already present.
