Sentinels take down DRX 2-0

Sentinels proved to be the superior team today after a 2-0 victory over DRX. The first map of Bind saw Sentinels win the pistol round and the follow-up round. But once DRX managed to get a few weapons in their hands on the defensive side, they seemed much more at ease. DRX quickly took a small lead 5-3 before Sentinels figured out their defense.

Winning the last four rounds of the half, Sentinels was able to ensure a 7-5 lead going into half-time. Bind is still a Sentinels pick, so fans expected them to perform well. But Sentinels, once again, won the pistol and with it their lead widened to a degree where the victory was within sights.

Despite commandable performances by BuZz and MaKo, it wasn't enough for DRX. BuZz ended Bind with 20 kills to his name, the highest on the server. Zest had 17 frags while Mako's 14 accounted for 195 ACS. Ultimately, the kill spread across the Sentinel roster on Bind was much more even and more sustainable.

Split saw Sentinels continue their defensive dominance marching to a 7-2 lead before DRX managed to pull back two. It was still a very strong lead for Sentinels. But Split is a map where the defense is favored slightly more and it was evident in the second half. DRX had a similarly strong defense, which allowed them to march ahead to overtime (12-12). In Overtime, Sentinels emerged victorious 3-1 and with it secured the series.

Sentinels vs DRX Preview

Group A is undoubtedly the group that fans are eagerly waiting to watch. With the likes of DRX, Paper Rex, and Sentinels in one group, the group has already produced some exciting matches. Sentinels faced off against Paper Rex, a series that they barely won. The inaugural tournament series saw the two teams battle it out in overtime in the third map. Eventually, Sentinels emerged victorious with a 15-13 overtime score, signifying their dominance against Paper Rex.

DRX were up against FULL SENSE, a Thai team featuring Sushiboys, foxz, and more. The Korean team known for its strategic brilliance still only managed a 2-1 victory against the common expectation of a 2-0 win.

Now coming up against each other in the Winners' match, it will be interesting to see how DRX adapts its playstyle to Sentinels. The Sentinels roster has had some time together and they have slowly but surely developed a unique gameplay style. The team relies on a synchronized set of movements throughout the map to gain an advantage. After that, the individual skill and brilliance of the players is usually more than enough to see them through.

Where can I watch the match?

The matches are not streamed on Twitch, which unfortunately means there is no way to watch it on the most popular platform. Recently Twitch announced it was exiting the Korean market after new government regulations would make it financially unsustainable for the company to continue operations in the country.

You can catch the action live on AfreecaTV, which is also the sponsor of this League.
