Map 1: Split
The first map of the Playoffs was a heated battle. G2 Esports secured the pistol round, but Paper Rex remained unfazed. They were feeling confident. Still, G2 Esports was relentless and made it clear they weren’t there just to play around. Both teams delivered an incredible show of VALORANT at its finest. In the second half, Paper Rex came back strong and closed the gap, making it a much tighter match.
PatMen was just unbelievable, carrying the game with powerful plays and clutch. The first game started close, balanced, but Paper Rex was not going to take less than a victory. And the first map goes to them!
Map 2: Lotus
G2 Esports seemed less assured at the start of the second map, allowing Paper Rex to take control and pop off. Still, G2 fought back to close the first half at a 6-6 tie. The second half, however, belonged to Paper Rex. Whenever G2 started regaining confidence and making big plays, Paper Rex always seemed to come out on top.
This was an excellent start for the Pacific team, which began the VALORANT Masters Toronto Playoffs with a significant victory against one of the tournament favorites. We are very excited to see how both teams will perform in the rest of the competition.
