FNATIC vs BLG: Will the Chinese team upset two titans in a row?

FNATIC is coming off a historic moment in VALORANT history and looks primed to be at the center of another. After winning back-to-back international trophies, their eyes are set on a third here at VALORANT Champions 2023.

This is where the best of the best reside, however. That means they'll need to play the best VALORANT they ever have. Especially if they want to get past a surprising Bilibili Gaming team that sent NRG down to the Elimination Match.

You never truly know what to expect in this esport, but one thing is for sure. You can expect FNATIC vs BLG to be a scrappy game. There's no way BLG goes down without a fight after the way they played in their opening match. It all depends on how locked in FNATIC happens to be after a fairly easy first series.

FNATIC vs BLG full recap

Map 1: Haven

FNATIC started Haven by showing why they won LOCK//IN and Masters Tokyo. The executed near-perfect site hits and got ahead early on Bilibili Gaming. And they would maintain that lead through the first half. BLG gained one round and eventually another, but FNATIC was guaranteed to be on top as halftime approached. That is thanks to a huge 3K clutch by Boaster. This was followed by another 3K and a clutch from the IGL.

BLG had quite the hole to dig themselves out of as the second half started 10:2 in FNATIC's favor. The pistol round saw a chaotic finale, but it was yet another FNC victory. Then came FNATIC at map point quickly after. That was all she wrote for this one and the reigning international victors took Haven without breaking a sweat.

Map 2: Lotus

FNATIC vs BLG's second map kicked off with the former taking the pistol round. A 3K from Alfajer snagged them the second round as well. The Chinese representatives were not able to shift things on the bonus round. FNC stayed strong and extended their lead. Much like the first map, BLG finally got one on the board after an FNC streak, but they couldn't put together enough to tie it or take a lead at halftime.

BLG managed a Flawless second half pistol round to keep things from getting out of hand. After netting their fifth round, FNATIC retaliated in the bonus to reach 10. BLG was starting to string some rounds, but the lead of FNATIC was too much to overcome. It wasn't long before FNATIC vs BLG ended, albeit with a much harder fought second map from the Chinese team. To no one's surprise, FNATIC moves to the playoffs.
