Valve revealed the new Steam Machine on a random Wednesday. Here's the Steam Machine's release date, specs, and more.

Valve revealed its new gaming PC-slash-console, the Steam Machine, along with a couple of other products that’re sure to tickle the gamer’s fancy. Here’s everything we know about the Steam Machine, including its specs and release date.

Steam Machine release date

The Steam Machine is set to release in early 2026. It shares the same release window as the rest of the new Steam Hardware line, which includes the Steam Frame VR headset and the next-generation Steam Controller.

Steam Machine details

Valve positions the Steam Machine as a gaming PC, and it is, in most senses of the word.

According to the corporation, the Steam Machine is six times more powerful than the Steam Deck. Like its handheld cousin, the Machine also runs on SteamOS. This makes the experience seamless if you’re already used to the Deck. Don’t like SteamOS? That’s fine, Valve is allowing gamers like you to install another operating system on the Machine.

The Verified program will be changed to include compatibility with the Machine.

The power it packs only becomes more impressive thanks to its small footprint. It comes in a six-inch cube. Steam recommends you hide it under a banana. It also weighs in at 2.6 kilograms.

Of course, it has the very thing that makes a gaming PC: RGB. The LED strip in front is customizable with different colors and animations, or helps you keep track of things like download progress.

The Machine comes in two models. One has a 512GB NVMe SSD, and the other has a 2 TB NVMe SSD. While there isn’t an extra slot to expand storage with an SSD, the Machine features a high-speed microSD card slot to make more space for your games. Valve understands that new games take up a ridiculous amount of storage. Thank you, Gaben.
