Hey Siri, can you ask ChatGPT something?

Apple CEO Tim Cook on Thursday said ChatGPT would make its way to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia by the end of the calendar year in a recent earnings call with investors. This announcement reconfirms the June 2024 WWDC keynote statement about ChatGPT integration coming to iPhone, iPad, and Mac later this year.

ChatGPT to roll out to iPhones by the end of the year

In response to a question about Apple’s Artificial Intelligence advancements, the CEO said "ChatGPT is integrated by the end of the calendar year.” This means fans can expect some form of integration between Siri and ChatGPT by the end of the year as reported by Macrumors.

The iOS 18.1 beta saw Intelligence features being rolled out to developers, however, there is still no ChatGPT integration just yet. However, there were several other intelligence features such as the option to summarize everything that you receive in an email. It is a very handy feature that would be useful for all those business and spam emails that seem to drone on and on. There are also call recording and automatic transcript services, definitely something that would be useful in an average person’s day-to-day life.

Siri will now be able to provide tech support for thousands of queries regarding iPhones, iPad and MacBook. IPhones can also now reduce interruption and will only display notifications that require immediate attention. There’s more but there is still no ChatGPT integration that has been displayed to developers. Anyone can sign up for a beta account, but the beta version comes with its own risks. So it’s best to just wait out the stable version release, which should roll out in September along with the new iPhones.

Access to ChatGPT will be free with iOS users not even needing to create an account to access with OpenAI. However, existing ChatGPT Plus members can still connect their accounts to their iOS account to gain access to premium features. We should get more information about ChatGPT integration and more iPhones closer to the September event.
