The Teamfight Tactics (TFT) tournament at Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025) just ended with Weibo Gaming players taking home the lion's share of $500,000 USD. Yin "Saopimi" Shengjie also received an extra $10,000 USD as the Sony Finals MVP!
Weibo Gaming players win TFT at EWC 2025
Between Aug. 11 and 13, a total of 16 teams duked it out in a group stage for coveted spots in the TFT playoffs. These teams were split into four groups and players had to battle in best-of-three (Bo3), double-elimination matches. Weibo Gaming dominated this stage, earning wins against teams such as T1, Al Qadsiah Esports, and Team Vitality.
This win streak continued in the playoffs, which happened between Aug. 14 and 15. Similar to the group stage, the playoffs began with Bo3 matches before the grand final, which was a best-of-five (Bo5). Here, Weibo Gaming swept EVOS 2-0 before going against AEGIS 2-1. Then, in the grand final, Weibo Gaming went 3-1 against Virtus.pro.
With impressive performances from Saopimi, Yao "LingBaoTianZun" Chuanheng, Wu "Guan" Jinxin, and Zhang "TianLong" Tianlong, the team overpowered their opponents in the later stages and secured a decisive victory. Their strategic shift to go full tempo proved to be their greatest advantage, and it was also their flexibility that set them apart from their opponents.

In the post-match interview, LingBaoTianZun talked about what ran through his mind the moment his team won the tournament.
"I was incredibly excited. There's no doubt about that in my mind," he said, also recalling how their hard work in preparing for EWC 2025 paid off.
Meanwhile, as the Sony Finals MVP, Saopimi gave his teammates some heartfelt words of his own. "I believe this MVP prize doesn't belong to me alone, but to every single one of WBG," he said.
For claiming victory, the team earned 1,000 Club Points toward the Club Championship leaderboard. This program features $27,000,000 USD spread among the participating esports organizations within EWC 2025. Only one team can become the champion of this program, and the 1,000 Club Points moved Weibo Gaming to eighth place at 1,950 points total.
