Hungrybox joins some elite company!

Leading gaming peripherals brand HyperX announced today they have renewed their partnership with premier esports organization Team Liquid. HyperX will continue being the Official Peripherals Partner of Team Liquid and assist with many of their endeavors. To highlight their commitment to esports, top Super Smash Bros. Melee player Juan "Hungrybox" DeBiedma has also been named an official HyperX Hero and global ambassador for the brand.

Team Liquid's Hungrybox named HyperX Hero

Hungrybox is one of the most legendary players in Melee history and remains a top competitor today. He is one of the "five gods" of Melee who dominated the game during the 2010s. Though his character choice has always stirred controversy, he has become the blueprint for playing Jigglypuff and revolutionized how she is played.

Hungrybox has won numerous major tournaments, including MLG World Finals 2015, EVO 2016, and GENESIS 6. He has also won The Big House twice (2017 & 2018), Pound twice (2016 & 2019), three Smash Summit titles, five DreamHack titles, and is a seven-time champion at CEO.

Along with competing, Hungrybox is also one of the most successful streamers in the FGC with nearly 400k followers. Having been with Team Liquid since 2015, Hungrybox is now the longest-lasting member of the organization and joined the management as a co-owner last year. As a HyperX Hero and ambassador, he will feature in various virtual streams, events, and more from the company.

Hungrybox is the latest competitive figure to become a HyperX global ambassador. He joins other high-profile names such as NFL player JuJu Smith-Schuster, NBA player Gordon Hayward, tennis star Daniel Medvedev, NASCAR driver Sage Karam, and skateboarder Minna Stess.

Hungrybox joining the ranks of some of the world's most talented athletes shows how esports is breaching the mainstream. The partnership makes great strides in bridging the gap between esports and traditional sports, as well as recognizing professional gamers as athletes.

Future projects in the works

HyperX will be collaborating on a number of Team Liquid projects. Chief among them will be supporting Team Liquid's tournaments as well as their charitable and community initiatives. Additionally, both companies have plans to produce more content with a stronger focus on diversity and women in gaming.

"HyperX is thrilled to renew our sponsorship with Team Liquid to support the growing esports organization and equally excited to welcome Hungrybox to the HyperX brand ambassador family," said Stephanie Winkler, director of marketing at HyperX. "We recognize the ongoing efforts of Team Liquid to support the esports ecosystem of players, influencer, and fans and inclusivity for all, aligning with HyperX's commitment to fueling the next generation of gamers and content creators."

The new partnership will be an extension of their previous one. HyperX will work with various Team Liquid teams, causes, and more. HyperX will be providing support for Team Liquid Brazil, the organizations brand new all-female VALORANT squad. The roster will compete at VCT Game Changers in 2022.

They will also assist with content, including "Table Talks", a new podcast hosted by Team Liquid players and staff. HyperX will also provide headphones and microphones for Team Liquid video content and broadcast setups.
