Changes in the RLCS 2025 format

The new Rocket League esports season comes with some exciting changes. There will be an additional circuit with a unique format. The number of Rocket League esports teams in the World Championship 2025 has been increased. One more opportunity to qualify for the main event of RLCS 2025 is now available for the competitors. Here are all these changes in detail.

Rocket League 1v1 matches

It’s a new format for the official Championship Series. After Open Qualifiers in both splits, top participants proceed to the 1v1 Finals at RLCS Major 1 and 2. The winners from the EU and SAM regions play at Birmingham Major. NA and MENA players advance to Major 2. The ultimate clash of two Major winners happens at the RLCS 2025 Worlds.

20 teams and a bigger prize pool

In 2025, the number of the Worlds participants will increase to 20. There were 16 teams starting the 2024 main event from the Swiss stage

The yearly prize pool has been increased to $5M. The money will be divided between all the official tournaments.

Last Chance Qualifier

Four additional RLCS 2025 World Championship spots are for the top teams at the LCQ. It’s an online Rocket League tournament, and it’s planned to happen after Major 2. The winners in four main regions proceed to the main in-person event.

Quicker qualification progress for top teams

During the 2025 RLCS season, the top 8 teams at a qualifying event get spots at later stages of the following Open Qualifiers. They will not need to compete in the early stages, and therefore, the high placements open doors for quicker Major qualifications.

Who are the Rocket League 2024 World Champions?

Team BDS won the RLCS 2024 World Championship. But there is an interesting detail. The whole roster and the coach are not in Team BDS in 2025.

  • Two World Champions and the victorious coach are now in Team Vitality: M0nkey M00n, ExoTiiK, and Kassio.
  • One 2024 Rocket League World Champion is in Karmine Corp for the 2025 season: dralii.

Team BDS has not announced the new active roster yet, but the achievement of winning the Worlds is still connected to this esports organization.
