G1 Invitational just crowned Oxygen Esports as the champion of their first Rocket League tournament featuring eight top European teams.
Oxygen Esports just won the first G1 Invitational Rocket League tournament. The online event took place from Jan. 24 to Jan. 25, featuring top teams in the European Rocket League scene.
G1 entered the Rocket League scene in 2022 with the signing of ARG, which is a Spanish Rocket League team. The G1 Invitational was their first venture into tournament organizing. The total prize pool was $10,000, with Oxygen Esports bringing home $5,000 USD.
G1 Invitational's successful first Rocket League tournament
The teams that participated in the invitational-only tournament were Moist Esports, Oxygen Esports, Quadrant, G1, Tundra Esports, Team BDS, Evil Geniuses, and Soniqs. These teams are currently among the best Rocket League teams in the European and international scene. G1 Invitational saw a top-tier competitive experience among them.
The G1 Invitational followed the format of an eight-team double elimination bracket with best-of-five (Bo5) matches and a best-of-seven (Bo7) grand final. Oxygen Esports had a smooth journey since the beginning, staying in the upper bracket by defeating Tundra Esports, Team BDS, and Soniqs. Soniqs later took down Moist Esports in the lower bracket rinal, bringing them to face Oxygen Esports in the grand final. In the end, Oxygen Esports fought Soniqs for the crown and achieved victory with a 3:1 score.

Oxygen Esports is indeed a name to look out for this season as they house one of the deadliest rosters in the Rocket League scene. They have the Rocket League prodigies Archie "archie" Pickthall and Joris "Joreuz" Robben. Oxygen Esports also recently signed Finlay "rise." Ferguson from Moist Esports, a name well-known in the Rocket League scene.
The G1 Invitational surely gives a glimpse into what's to happen during the upcoming Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Winter Split season. The teams will have to face each other soon in the RLCS Winter Open at the end of January 2023.
