G2 Esports trade 15-year old Dreaz for Team Envy’s Atomic ahead of roster lock

G2 Esports are bringing in reinforcements for the upcoming 2022 season in the form of Team Envy’s Massimo “Atomic” Franceschi.

G2 Esports' Rocket League division welcomes a new player for 2022, Atomic Massimo "Atomic" Franceschi. The news was announced by G2 Esports' CEO Carlos on Twitter ahead of the Rocket League roster lock on January 2nd.

"Typically it wouldn't be a hand-held video, it would be f**king insane announcement with explosions," said Carlos, who explained he was stepping in to make the announcement with his staff still on holidays until January 3rd.

New addition Atomic is an 18-year old who joins G2 Esports following a successful two years with Team Envy. During his time with Envy, Atomic placed top 4 at the Fall: NA Major, 3rd at the Winter: NA Major and top 8 at the Spring NA Major.

Atomic has competed against G2 Esports in the past, most notably in the longest RLCS match ever. (21 straight games) The match took place at the Fall Classic in November 2021, with all best-of-sevens going the distance. G2 Esports ultimately finished triumphant.

Dreaz traded for Atomic

"With great news comes farewells as well," said Carlos. "Dreaz is going to be leaving us. You've given everything to us, and we've given everything to you. When you joined G2 just as a rookie, you had everything to prove and you proved it."

Carlos went on to say that he wished Dreaz the best, and that he was glad that the Rocket League player's stock went up during his time in G2. 15-year old Dreaz departs after less than four months with the organisation. but with a bright future ahead of him. The young rising star joins Team Envy as part of a trade for Atomic.
