It seems we won’t be getting any new Pokémon or regional forms.

The internet is awash with leaks about Pokémon Legends Z-A, and the latest of those suggests we will not get any new Pokémon with the game. This also includes any regional forms of existing Pokémon.

The last Pokémon Legends game, Legends Arceus, introduced several new regional variants. However, this game was set a very long time apart from Diamond and Pearl and the Sinnoh region. Legends Z-A is being held very close to when X and Y take place, and only takes place in Luminose City.

Here is what we know about the potential for new Pokémon in Legends Z-A. As always, these are just leaks, so nothing is official until confirmed.

No new Pokémon or regional variants coming in Legends Z-A say leakers

Several leakers all reported the same information that there will be no new Pokémon introduced when the game releases. Among these was the reputable Centro Leaks, who validated the news after several others reported it on X across March 25.

This news follows other leaks suggesting the game will introduce a whole host of new Mega Evolutions. The X & Y games and the Kalos region were very Mega Evolution heavy when they released. In that sense, it would make sense for the game to focus on new Mega Evolutions over new Pokémon.

The focus on just one city equally makes regional variants less logical. This is impacted by the small time-jump between X & Y and Legends Z-A. Why were these Pokémon and variants not in X & Y if they feature in a game set not long after. Mega Evolutions is technology based, so is easier to explain compared to adding all new Pokémon in Legends Z-A.

Legends Arceus introduced Hisuian variants of Pokémon

Of course, these are all assumptions based off leaks and could be untrue. There might be one or two new Pokémon exclusive to Luminose City, even if there is not a new roster of Pokémon or regional variants.

The last Pokémon Legends game introduced 16 new Husian variants for Pokémon when that released. If the new news on Mega Pokémon is true, adding regional variants or new Pokémon to Legends Z-A would mean that game has significantly more new content than Arceus did. The game is already adding all new Battle Mechanics to the game and no doubt has more unannounced features.
