Get ready for the Wild Area event in Pokémon GO.

Pokémon GO Wild Area is a brand new live event that follows in the footsteps of the popular GO Fest and GO Tour events Trainers know and love. We now have full details about what to expect for the debut Wild Area event, and it looks set to be one of the best events in Pokémon GO for some time.

Here is everything we know about Wild Area, both in person and online.

Pokémon GO Wild Area event dates and location

Like the other two major Pokémon GO events, GO Fest and GO Tour, there will be both an in person event and an online event. They are as follows:

  • November 16-17, Fukuoka, Japan
  • November 23-24, Worldwide

Tickets for the in-person event are totally sold out.

The global event will break a traditional norm, and will not end on the hour. The event runs from 10am until 6:15pm each day.

There is also a pre-event, called Into The Wild that will feature a range of Raids, bonuses and the debut of Toxel in 10 km Eggs.

Wild Area Event Bonuses

The following bonuses will be in effect during the Pokémon GO Wild Area Global:

  • Lure Modules activated will last for two hours
  • Chance of receiving Special Backgrounds from Four-Star and Five-Star Raid Battles
  • Field Research themed around the different Pokémon habitats
  • One GO Snapshot surprise event encounter per day—when taking snapshots during the event, you never know who might show up!

Ticket Holder Bonuses

Then, the following additional bonuses will be in effect for those Trainers with a ticket:

  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon
  • Level up your Elite Collector medal by completing themed Collection Challenges!
  • 2× Catch Candy
  • 1/2 Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in Incubators during the event
  • 2× Hatch Stardust
  • 2× Hatch XP
  • 2× Hatch Candy
  • Up to 5 Raid Passes per day by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms
  • 5,000 Additional XP from completed raids
  • 1 Additional Candy XL from Pokémon in four-star, five-star, Mega Raids, Ultra Beast Raids, and Primal Raids
  • Up to 6 Special Trades can be made each day
  • Reduced Stardust cost for trades
  • Three GO Snapshot surprise event encounters per day—when taking snapshots during the event, you never know who might show up!

In addition, Trainers who purchased a Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global ticket by October 22 received Timed Research that awarded early access to a themed avatar item: Toxel Mask.

Pokémon GO Wild Area debuts mighty Pokémon and Safari Balls and Toxtricity

There are several exciting features coming to the two Wild Area events. We're getting a whole new type of Wild Pokémon, called mighty Pokémon. These will be unusually powerful, and have some shared traits. These are:

  • More likely to have high Attack, Defense, and HP ratings
  • More likely to be XL or XXL
  • More difficult to capture

These Pokémon can also be shiny, if you're lucky.

Now with these Pokémon being harder to capture, we're also getting an extra tool to help us along the way.

This help comes in the form of a brand new Poké Ball, the GO Safari Ball. These are highly effective Poké Balls that make capturing Pokémon much easier. These will be especially useful when encountering a mighty Pokémon.

All unused Safari Balls will expire and disappear from your Item Bag at the end of the event hours each day.

Toxtricity debuting in Dynamax and Gigantamax Max Battles

This includes a brand new Pokémon, Toxtricity. This Pokémon will be debuting in three different ways. It will spawn in the Wild, be avaliable in its Dynamax form through Max Battles and avaliable in its Gigantamax form in Gigantamax Max Battles.

That gives Trainers playing the Pokémon GO Wild Area a whole host of ways to encouter Toxtricity. Importantly, this Pokémon can be shiny no matter how you encounter it. You'll also be able to hatch Toxel in Eggs during the event, and before the event during Into the Wild.

We'd suggest focusing on Gigantamax Toxtricity over Dynamax Toxtricity if there are enough Trainers nearby to do so.

Origin Dialga and Origin Palkia to return with their Adventure Effects

The exciting features don't stop there. Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia will appear in raids during the Pokémon GO Wild Area. All Trainers will have a chance to encounter these Pokémon. It gets even better, both Pokémon can have their signature attacks, their Adventure Effect moves, when caught. This will be the first time that these moves have been avaliable since their debut during the Sinnoh Tour.

These two powerful Pokémon will also be avaliable during the Into The Wild event too. They will have their Adventure Effects during this time, but not during the Monday and Tuesday after the Wild Area event ends.

At the moment, there is no way to teach either of the signature attacks to Dialga and Palkia if they don't already have them.

Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon also returning to Raids

If that wasn't enough Raid action, the Pokémon GO Wild Area will also see the return of Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. These are some of the absolute best Pokémon in the entire game, and were last seen in March during special Raid Day events.

It's not clear if these Pokémon will come with their exclusive moves. So far, Niantic have not said so, so it is likely they will not. Prepare your Elite TM's to teach these Pokémon Precipice Blades and Origin Pulse after the Raid.

As well as their return, we are also getting a new costumed Pokémon. Snorlax, wearing a studded jacket will be avaliable to Trainers who are headed to play the Pokémon GO Wild Area in person in Japan through wild spawns. For Global players, it will be avaliable in Tier 3 Raids.
