Take on Origin Forme Palkia in Pokémon GO with this Raid Guide.

Origin Forme Palkia is returning to Pokémon GO during the Origin Raid Day event. It returns alongside Origin Forme Dialga, and will be avaliable in Raids from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Additionally, any Origin Forme Palkia caught during this event has a chance to know their signature move, Spacial Rend.

This powerful attack is not only one of the best Dragon-type moves in the entire game, but it is also an Adventure Effect move. This move will allow you to see Pokémon at a much further away distance and is excellent to use during events.

So, here is everything you need to know to take on Origin Forme Palkia in Pokémon GO.

Best Origin Forme Palkia counters in Pokémon GO:

Like its standard form, Origin Forme Palkia has a weakness to Dragon and Fairy-type attacks. It has a double resistance to Fire and Water-type attacks, with an additional weakness to Steel-type attacks as well.

Here are the best Pokémon you can use to take on Origin Forme Palkia in Pokémon GO.

Mega SalamenceDragon Tail & Outrage

Being a Dragon-type, there are plenty of good Pokémon in Pokémon GO to take on Origin Forme Palkia. However, remember that this effectiveness will work both ways. Your Dragon-type attackers will be effective against Origin Forme Palkia, but Origin Forme Palkia will be effective against them too.

If you’re worried about this, leaning into Fairy-type Pokémon could be a good option. Additionally, Origin Forme and standard Dialga are both Dragon and Steel-types and thus do not have a weakness to Dragon-type attacks.

What is also fantastic is that both Dialga and Palkia are good choices for this Raid. If you’re low on Origin Forme Palkia counters, the more Raids you do the more options you will have for future Raids.

In addition three of the four newest Fusion forms are also all excellent counters. Black and White Kyurem and Crowned Sword Zacian (with a Fairy-type Charged Attack) are all top tier counters and these have been avaliable recently.

Can Origin Forme Palkia be shiny in Pokémon GO?

Yes, after debuting during the Sinnoh Tour, Origin Forme Palkia can be shiny in Pokémon GO. The odds are boosted on this special Origin Raid Day.

Mega Evolutions to get you more Palkia candy in Pokémon GO

Mega Evolutions can help you get more candy and XL candy with every catch. Having a mega level 3 active that boosts candy for Dragon or Water-types will give you an extra 2 candy per catch, as well as a 25% bonus to your XL candy chance.

Here are the Pokémon you can mega evolve to get more Palkia candy:

  • Gyarados
  • Blastoise
  • Slowbro
  • Ampharos
  • Sceptile
  • Swampert
  • Altaria
  • Salamence
  • Latias
  • Latios
  • Kyogre
  • Rayquaza
  • Garchomp

Of course, any of the Dragon-type Pokémon on this list will also be strong counters against Origin Forme Palkia as well as give you that extra candy and XL candy. Mega Rayquaza is an especially good choice, as it covers three types.

How many trainers do I need to beat Palkia in Pokémon GO?

Origin Forme Palkia is a fairly strong Pokémon. For high level Trainers, who are also ideally using Party Play, we suggest at least a group of three. However, for lower level Trainers you will want at least five or more Trainers to take on this Raid without having to sweat too much.
