Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings – which Necrozma Fusion is better in Pokémon GO?

Pokémon GO Fest: Global will see both Necrozma Fusion forms roll out to Pokémon GO Trainers worldwide. But, with both Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma to choose from, which is better to have in your Pokémon GO collection?

The Necrozma Fusion form directly uses the stats (and shiny status) of Necrozma, rather than the Solgaleo or Lunala you fuse with. That means if you get a high IV or shiny Necrozma, you need to choose carefully which form to Fuse it into.

Here is everything you need to know before choosing between Dusk Mane or Dawn Wings Necrozma in Pokémon GO.

The short answer is both Necrozma Fusion forms are very good in Pokémon GO. However, Dawn Wings Necrozma is the slightly better choice overall. Of course, ideally all Trainers will have a good IV of both forms.

Here are the two Necrozma Fusion forms put head to head.

The Necrozma fusion forms take their typings from the two Pokémon that are fused together to make them. They both get Necrozma's Psychic-type, and then take the typing of either Lunala (Ghost-type) and Solgaleo (Steel-type).

That means that the two forms have the following typings:

Both Pokémon have a range of Weaknesses and Resistances in Pokémon GO.

Dawn Wings Necrozma has only two weaknesses, but they are both double weaknesses. These are to Dark and Ghost-types. It then has a triple resistance to Fighting-types, a double resistance to Normal-types and a single resistance to Poison and Psychic-types.

Dusk Mane Necrozma has more weaknesses, for a total of four, but these are all single weaknesses. It has a weakness to Dark, Fire, Ghost and Ground-types. Of the two Necrozma Fusion forms in Pokémon GO, Dusk Mane has far more resistances. It has a double resistance to Poison and Psychic-types. Then it has single resistances to Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Grass, Ice, Normal, Rock and Steel-types. That is a total of 10!

Both of the Necrozma Fusion forms are good in Pokémon GO PvP, specifically in the Master League. According to PvP Poke, the two Pokémon rank in the following in Master League:

Interestingly, Solgaleo ranks higher than Dusk Mane Necrozma in the Master League. However, Dawn Wings Necrozma ranks significantly higher than Lunala.

So overall, Dawn Wings Necrozma is better than Dusk Mane Necrozma for Pokémon GO PvP. You're better off using Solgaleo, than Dusk Mane Necrozma.

Moving onto raids, both Fusion forms of Necrozma are good as Raid attackers in Pokémon GO.

Dawn Wings Necrozma is a very good option as a Ghost or Psychic-type Raid attacker. In the Psychic-type category, Dawn Wings Necrozma ranks 15th. This is above the likes of Metagross and Alakazam. However, the unfused Lunala ranks higher in 11th.

In the Ghost-type category, Dawn Wings Necrozma ranks #1, thanks to its unique Moongeist Beam Charged attack. This makes it incredibly powerful, better than even Mega Gengar. For comparison, Lunala sits in 6th. However, the gap between these two Pokémon is large.

For Dusk Mane Necrozma, it ranks the exact same in the Psychic-type category, sitting also at 15th. However, this is a lot better than Solgaleo which sits way back in 50th position.

In the Steel-type category, like Dawn Wings in the Ghost-type category, Dusk Mane Necrozma ranks very highly thanks to its unique move, Sunsteel Strike. It also sits #1, ahead of the yet-released Mega Metagross, Metagross and both forms of Dialga.

Both Fusion forms of Necrozma have adventure effects in Pokémon GO. There isn't much to separate these two Pokémon here. The adventure effects are basically the same, acting as an incense. The only difference is the Pokémon they attract.

So, only if you want a specific Pokémon from either of the pools that these Adventure Effects attract would you consider one to be better than the other.

In conclusion, Dawn Wings Necrozma is the better Fusion form in Pokémon GO. There isn't a lot to separate the two options, however Dawn Wings is significantly better in PvP, whereas Dusk Mane is actually worse than Solgaleo.

However, both Pokémon are very good Raid attackers in their respective categories. Both also have good Adventure Effects, and are well worth collecting in Pokémon GO.
