Overwatch 2 plans on keeping the 6v6 game mode in Season 16, exciting quite a few players around the world.
With Overwatch 2's Season 16 just around the corner, many have begun to wonder just what content will be brought over from Season and how much new content players will get. The 6v6 Open Queue game mode, which returned last season, is one of the popular game modes being transferred over to Season 16.
And Overwatch 2 fans are ecstatic. Here are the details.
6v6s to stay in Overwatch 2 going into Season 16
Big fan of 6v6s in Overwatch 2? You'll be happy to learn that the beloved game mode will be moving over to Season 16. The game mode has been all the hype over the last few months, making it a no-brainer for Blizzard to transfer the game over.
Overwatch 2 plans on running the Open Queue for the game mode for the time being in both Quick Play and Competitive, giving players the chance to run 6v6s throughout the entirety of Season 16.

In fact, Competitive 6v6 was the third most popular game mode in Overwatch 2 during Season 15. The only time it was passed up was when the game released its Totally Normalwatch April Fool's mode.
Blizzard also filled us in on some data, stating that, while 5v5s still reign superior (with a 3:1 ratio of players to 6v6s), the 6v6 game mode is still running steady with enough players for Overwatch 2 to justify keeping it in Season 16.

One thing that will also stay the same with 6v6s in Season 16 is the two-tank method. This means that teams can have up to two tanks, which provides them with quite a bit of firepower.

"Tank players in 6v6 clearly enjoy having another tank “buddy” in their corner," said Blizzard in a recent blog post. "And no matter which role they choose, players are loving shorter queue times and the ability to swap roles within a match."
Due to queue times staying consistent and healthy all across the board for both 5v5s and 6v6s, Blizzard feels that this is a strong reason as to why 6v6s should stay in the game.
