Overwatch 2 gets its first crossover with One Punch Man anime, coming in March

The inevitable Overwatch crossover event is here, and it will knock you out. Check out the deets on the Overwatch 2 x One Punch Man collab.

Look, sometimes you gotta go with the most obvious solution. It's been rumored for months that Overwatch 2 was prepared to get into the IP crossover game. With the popularity of just about everything Fortnite does, it felt like Blizzard was leaving money on the table by now participating. Well, the wait is over as the Season 3 trailer reveals an Overwatch 2 x One Punch Man crossover event.

Taking place in March, the only thing we know at this moment is Doomfist will get a skin of the titular hero. Let's look at that trailer.

Overwatch's own One Punch Man

It seemed inevitable that Overwatch 2 would get a crossover. But predicting it would be with a big-name anime such as One Punch Man would be improbable. The 2015 anime adaptation of the Shonen Jump manga series took the world by storm and rose to great heights in popularity.

Telling the tale of superhero Saitama whose ability to throw a singular punch to defeat any enemy, One Punch Man isn't a stranger to video games. The 2020 fighting game One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, while not known for being any good, does feature a unique mechanic.

While players can pick the eponymous punching man for their team, you must wait out the time limit clock and survive long enough for Saitama to show up and defeat your enemy.

I've got the Doom if you've got the Fist

If ever there was an Overwatch 2 Hero bound for a One Punch Man crossover it's Doomfist. Already designed like a fighting game character, the villainous, gauntlet-bound Hero matches perfectly for Saitama and his heavy-handed heroism.

Look for the One Punch Man crossover event to begin on March 7 and run through April 6. More details to come as they are available.
