BLAST and Epic Games announce multi-year deal for all FNCS and RLCS events

The future is certain for competitive Fortnite and Rocket League.

Esports tournament organizer BLAST has inked a multi-year deal with Epic Games to run all Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) and Rocket League Champion Series (RLCS) for the foreseeable future. The company revealed its latest agreement with Epic in a press release, extending the partnership that began in 2021. BLAST will handle the operations of competitions, event production, and marketing for the FNCS and RLCS.

This announcement is monumental, signaling a structured future for both titles as 2024 continues.

BLAST promises to create “incredible experiences” following new deal with Epic

The popular tournament organizer runs BLAST Premier for Counter-Strike and Rainbow Six Esports—two titans in the esports space. BLAST has become a trusted resource, which led to their initial agreement with Epic Games back in 2021.

Since then, BLAST has developed competitive Fortnite and Rocket League beyond anyone’s expectations. Following the success of the FNCS Global Championship, which garnered 725,000 peak viewers, the partnership between BLAST and Epic Games is here to stay.

“We are immensely proud to announce this momentous multi-year deal with Epic Games,” said BLAST Chief Business Officer Leo Matlock.” We believe this partnership represents the future of competitive gaming, where organisations like BLAST are able to work in tandem with world-leading publishers to create incredible experiences for players and teams to compete at the top level in front of fans all over the world."

The statement continued, with Matlock calling this agreement an amazing continuation of the journey for BLAST and Epic Games. It will be interesting to see what the two companies store this year.

In 2023, Fortnite turned to the Major format, leading up to the $4M FNCS Global Championship hosted this past October. Rocket League followed a similar format, with the $2.1M Finals happening in Germany this past August.

A roadmap for the Fortnite Champion Series and Rocket League Champion Series is looming. Many expect official statements as early as next week, with Epic’s annual winter break coming to an end. We will be sure to keep you updated with all the latest once those details become available.
