The Pokémon Unite Championship Series 2023 is here with more than a million in prize money.

The Pokémon Unite Championship Series is back for its 2023 edition. The format for the year has remained the same, providing players with multiple opportunities throughout the year to make it to the World Championship 2023.

The Pokémon Unite Championship Series is open to players across seven different regions around the world: Brazil, Europe, North America, Oceania, Latin America - North, and Latin America - South. Separate qualifiers will be held in each region to feed into the Pokémon Unite World Championship 2023. Yokohama, Japan will play hosts to the grand esports competition with a prize pool of $500,000. For Asia, however, a separate set of competitions will be held feeding into the World Championship.

What is the format for the Pokémon Unite Championship Series?

The Pokémon Unite Championship Series will consist of monthly competitions beginning in February and running through June. Each region will host separate qualifying tournaments during this time.

These tournaments will be open to all, and players will be able to register through Battlefy. Each region will host separate qualifiers. These open qualifiers will feature a double-elimination bracket, with the top eight teams advancing to the monthly finals. Furthermore, the monthly finals will be broadcasted in some regions.

March and April will play host to the AEOS Cup in addition to the qualifiers. This is a special tournament which carries a prize pool of $25,000 in each region and also rewards more championship points.

These qualifiers and the AEOS Cup will grant players championship points. At the end of the season, the team in each region with the most points will earn slots to the Pokémon Unite World Championship 2023.

Besides this, The Pokémon Company will also be hosting Regional Championships in June with a prize pool of $50,000 in each region. This will also have an open qualifier. The format for this involves a round-robin group stage with four groups, which will lead into a double-elimination playoffs. The top teams from here will directly earn a slot at the Pokémon Unite World Championship 2023.

Top teams to head to Japan for the World Championship 2023

The year will culminate into the Pokémon Unite World Championship 2023, which will feature the top teams from around the globe. Besides the title of world champion, a prize pool of $500,000 will be on the line.

The slots distribution is as follows:

  • Brazil: Two
  • Europe: Four
  • North America: Four
  • Oceania: Two
  • Latin America - North: Three
  • Latin America - South: Two

The teams will head down to Yokohama, Japan, to crown the 2023 world champion. The reveal for the slots given to Asian teams has not happened yet.
