Free Fire presents 2024 Esports Roadmap

The Free Fire Esports roadmap brings several changes for 2024.

Garena presented the 2024 esports roadmap for Free Fire with several changes. In 2024, Free Fire's esports roadmap also reveals that regional leagues are rebranding to FFWS.

The new season will have an international competition in the middle of the year. The year ends with the traditional Free Fire World Series Global Finals.

FFWS brings new system to leagues

According to the Free Fire Esports 2024 Roadmap announcement, regional leagues will have two seasons. The main regional leagues will be:

  • FFWS Brazil
  • FFWS SEA (Southeast Asia)
  • FFWS LATAM
  • FFWS MEA (Middle East & Africa)

Mid-year Global Tournament

In the announcement on its website, Garena did not reveal details about the tournament that will take place in the middle of the year. According to the article, the competition will feature 18 teams, including the "best teams" from:

  • FFWS SEA Spring
  • FFWS Brazil
  • FFWS LATAM
  • MEA and Pakistan representatives

The winner of the tournament will guarantee a place in the FFWS Global Series 2024. Following this, Garena also said: "More details about the July tournament will be revealed in the coming weeks."

The FFWS Global Series 2024 still don't have a location. The only information shared about it is that it will be in November. The 2023 edition was won by the Brazilian squad from Magic Squad and the 2022 edition by Attack All Around.

A new breath for Free Fire Esports?

After several years in the spotlight of mobile games, Free Fire Esports is in decline. The number of competitions fell as did the number of viewers.

Garena's lack of information regarding esports was harshly criticized by organization owners. This even led to organizations that were "born" in the game withdrawing from the scene.

Furthermore, a new fuller calendar as well as the entry of ESL into the scene should boost the game again. ESL will hold a Free Fire LAN event in São Paulo, Brazil, in April.
