Players are organizing a three-day boycott for the new Love and Deepspace Valentine’s Day. Here’s why.

Fans are angry at InFold Games for various reasons which motivated the organization of a global boycott and social media blackout of the upcoming Love and Deepspace banner. The first movement was made by Chinese players who accused the company of being greedy and unfriendly to free-to-play players. Let's understand the context behind this boycott.

Love and Deepspace boycott: What are the demands?

The basis of this boycott is the fact that InFold separated cosmetics from clothing items. This means that, if you want to acquire both, you'll need to spend more resources wishing on the banners. For the upcoming banner, the company decided to separate the hair from the outfit which doesn't make sense for the player base.

In addition to that, players are also complaining about the new outfit for the main character. Since you barely see her outfit (aside from combat), it doesn't make sense for players to pay to acquire said outfit. They believe InFold is starting to get greedy and they will start to make players' lives more complicated to get resources and materials. Right now though, that isn't the case since the game is generous with resources from daily quests, logins, and other tasks.

The problem with Sylus content

The Sylus fanbase is demanding better treatment of the character. According to them, Sylus is missing anecdotes, memories, and basic content. This problem seems to be the same with Caleb, the most recent character. So far, the company has not made any statement regardless of the lack of content. Sylus's case seems to be the worst since even parts of his lore are missing despite being out for half a year.

The Valentine's Day banner is out now. The players are using social media to spread the word and make this boycott big. During three days, players are encouraged not to post or talk about the game on social media, don't publish fan art, don't open or waste money/resources in the game, or at least reduce time on the game as much as possible.

The community united for the boycott

The boycott around Love and Deepspace's new banner had support from the majority of the community. Lexy, one of the streamers of the game, announced on X the delay of her stream to respect the three days and the reduction of her impact in-game. This is not the first boycott made and the first one seemed to have good results for players.

Even though some players were excited about the upcoming banner, they are overall supporting the Chinese players. They hope InFold Games ear their concerns and start to make changes.
