TLPH coach Aeon said that having so many star Gold Laners on the team is a problem, but a good one.

Week 1 Day 1 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) Season 17 event opened with an explosive rivalry match between Team Liquid PH (TLPH) and Aurora Gaming (RORA). The match had another surprise as the Cavaliers sent their secondary Gold Laner Kim “Daiki” Sebanes, instead of the highly anticipated debut of Indonesian import Sultan “AeronnShikii” Muhammad. The rookie did not waste his time and proved his value despite going up against the M7 World Champions in his debut match.

It looks like TLPH is stacked with star Gold Laners this season since another prodigy was seen during the Sibol National Team selection event for the Asian Games 2026 back on March 14. Dave “Teddyqt” Viaña from Team Liquid Academy PH joined the main four members in the event. Together, they swept the competition in Phase 1 before eventually winning the Grand Finals in Phase 2.

In a post-match press conference, TLPH coach Ong “Aeon” Wei Sheng shared his thoughts on how TLPH is overflowing with star Gold Laners this season.

TLPH Daiki subs AeronnShikii and dominates RORA

Everyone was looking forward to seeing AeronnShikii on the opening day of MPL PH Season 17 Week 1. However, news broke out that the Indonesian import will have to skip this week due to “pending administrative requirements.” As he and the team settle this predicament, Daiki, a former member of the team’s academy roster, stepped in as the Gold Laner.

While not exactly explosive in his role, Daiki was able to work well with the team. This was despite the little preparation they had due to the unforeseen circumstance. Up against RORA, the defending world champions, TLPH was able to win with a 2-1 series score. With that, the team may find itself in a dilemma. With AeronnShikii, Daiki, and academy Gold Laner Teddyqt, TLPH is spoiled for choice.

Too many Gold Laners? Coach Aeon Isn’t Complaining

TLPH coach Aeon shared his thoughts on the team’s star Gold Laners. When asked about whether this will become a problem when choosing who will be the main Gold Laner, he thinks it can be a problem, but a good one.

“We probably have to discuss, but I think it’s a good problem.”

Currently, only AeronnShikii and Daiki are part of the TLPH lineup this MPL PH Season 17. However, there is a chance that the team will shake things up a bit by promoting Teddyqt from the academy roster to the pro league. That said, TLPH seems to already have a solid lineup for this season.
