All eyes are on Faker, as his team has one of the biggest challenges in the early stage of LCK 2026. T1 and Gen.G look to earn a confidence boost and an early advantage ahead of the MSI qualification.

T1 and Gen.G started their LCK Cup 2026 with bitter losses. Both were defeated by KT Rolster.

T1 were smashed hard, with a 2:0, despite the best efforts of Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok to save the situation in game 2. Gen.G took one game, but eventually, they couldn’t support their own status as the regional and the MSI 2026 Champions.

The teams battle in Week 2 of the LCK 2026 Rounds 1–2 — T1 vs Gen.G is one of the best matchups in League of Legends (LoL) esports.

T1 are the reigning World Champions, but they often struggle against Gen.G. Winning here would be a powerful statement for both!

How to watch T1 vs Gen.G at LCK Cup 2026: Stream

The LoL esports match between T1 and Gen.G is on the official LCK Global YouTube channel. The teams play on April 8.

It’s the first time T1 play against Gen.G in 2026 — and it’s anyone’s game on esports betting sites. During the LCK Cup regular season, they were seeded into one group and faced opponents from the other group. In the playoffs, they were in parallel brackets, but T1 lost their matches, while Gen.G reached the grand final and lifted the trophy.

Gen.G did not have roster changes this competitive year. In T1, Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan replaced Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung. Interestingly enough, Peyz was in the main Gen.G Esports team for around two years, from 2022 to 2024, and their Academy / Challenger rosters earlier.

Hope for a good run is real! Statement wins for T1 and Gen.G

T1 started this LoL esports year with a disappointing result: they couldn’t qualify for the First Stand tournament. In the LCK Cup 2026, T1 finished 4th, losing to FEARX and Dplus KIA in the playoffs.

Fans have gained a fresh hope for a good LCK 2026 season for T1 thanks to their brilliant win over HLE. In two games, T1 demonstrated amazing teamfight skills. Faker was dominant on two picks, Azir and Annie.

Gen.G players were considered the First Stand favorites. They won the LCK Cup 2026 and had a great tournament. However, in the semifinal, Gen.G surprisingly lost to G2 Esports from Europe. Seeing them literally helpless in that 0:3 clash was disturbing.

After losing to KT Rolster in the opening match of LCK 2026, Gen.G needed a nice win to prove their true power. That certainly happened in the match against FEARX, which was the LCK Cup grand final rerun. Gen.G were clearly better players, and they defeated FEARX again.

Rounds 1–2 of LCK 2026 go on until May 31, but such big matchups are still pretty rare. T1 and Gen.G will proceed to farm lower-tier teams in the upcoming weeks — well, if no surprises happen. Both have a chance for revenge on KT Rolster.

A rerun of the Gen.G vs T1 match is planned for May 16. The situation with the Road to MSI qualification will be clearer at that moment.
