YamatoCannon will join Los Ratones as head coach for the 2026 season, with Caedrel transitioning to the assistant coach role.

Jakob "YamatoCannon" Mebdi has been named head coach of Los Ratones for the 2026 season, following Marc Robert "Caedrel" Lamont’s departure. With the founder stepping down from the role, YamatoCannon will have the space to lead and help the team grow in 2026.

"The rats" welcome YamatoCannon

Los Ratones were the 2025 League of Legends sensation, claiming two EMEA Masters titles and three Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) titles in just their first year of existence. After a year being coached by their founder, Los Ratones will now be coached by YamatoCannon.

He previously coached Ruddy Esports, a team that faced Los Ratones in the 2025 NLC. YamatoCannon also worked as a guest caster and analyst for the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) from 2017 to 2023.

The coach brings experience from Team ROOCAT, Splyce, Team Vitality, SANDBOX Gaming, Fnatic, and Karmine Corp. Notably, YamatoCannon was the first Western coach to lead a team in the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK).

As for Caedrel, his position will change from founder/head coach to founder/assistant coach. The roster will be the same for the 2026 season.

The future of Los Ratones

Despite their successful season and the announcement of their participation in the LEC Versus tournament, the future of Los Ratones remains uncertain.

In a recent stream, Caedrel revealed that the team would not be competing in Tier 2 following their appearance at the LEC Versus event. He also denied the rumors that the team would be joining the Ligue Française de League of Legends (LFL). Offering no further details, the founder left a cloud of uncertainty over the future of one of the scene’s most prominent teams.
