This is the last set of best-of-one matches in the League of Legends World Championship 2024. Teams with one win and one loss play here.

It was the final moment of balance at this tournament. With the 1:1 score, these eight teams had a chance to jump into the bright territory of qualification matches — with one more win needed to advance to the quarter-finals. Those who failed on Day 4 lost the balance in the direction of elimination matches. Sure there will be more chances for them to remain in the League of Legends World Championship 2024 (LoL Worlds 2024). But no team really wants to enter that dark dimension.

Some of the best players in the world and the event favorites are among these 1:1 teams. BLG and T1 faced each other. G2 Esports needed to prove that their title ambitions are not an illusion. Top Esports, the LoL EWC 2024 grand finalists, made a misstep already. Everything about these matches is here!

LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss stage Day 4: Results

Here you’ll find the results and brief recaps of the Round 3 LoL Worlds 2024 matches — between the 1:1 teams.

Top Esports vs Fnatic — TES 1:0 FNC. Top Esports won the match

In the early game, TES were strongly focused on securing objectives: all Voidgrubs and the first Dragon were theirs. Fnatic tried to respond, but they overstepped in various situations, which could have ended up in their favor but brought them losses instead.

This risky play still had some benefits. Fnatic got a Dragon and a couple of important kills. Top Esports were better at destroying turrets.

The mid-game returned to the starting pattern: Fnatic were unnecessarily overaggressive and TES punished that. Yone in the hands of Creme was such a thread with his pulling-back ability! Rumble of 369 was all over the map dealing damage where it’s needed the most. On the other side, Smolder of Humanoid had no opportunity to grow into a big dragon.

Top Esports won a massive team fight, secured Baron, and quickly destroyed Fnatic’s Nexus.

“I’d like to give credit to our Jungler and Support because they made so many crucial calls in this game. We managed to grab so many crucial resources. Speaking about our draft, we had a better chance to show the strengths of our draft in the late game. Also, some skirmishes were also performed well.”

Bilibili Gaming vs T1 — BLG 0:1 T1. T1 won the match.

The game was so even in the beginning. Both BLG and T1 got some objectives and some kills. But at some point, T1 went ahead with Herald and three Dragons.

Pretty soon, BLG showed miracles of positioning and team play to secure a bit more kills. This gave them the fake feeling of safety, and they started Baron. T1 took this fight even though they had only four players alive — and the legendary Korean players won it. This Baron was super important for T1!

To make the opponents waste time on the Baron buff, BLG started Dragon and secured it. T1 took the challenge and defeated four BLG players.

Team fights in this match were absolutely amazing! And with their gold/item advantage, T1 were better at them. Soon, they got the Cloud Soul, started the siege, and destroyed the Nexus of BLG.

“I feel like our performance is pretty good, and we are ready to become the best in the world one more time.”

PSG Talon vs FlyQuest — PSG 0:1 FLY. FlyQuest won the match.

Slow and notorious development continued for both teams for around 20 minutes. The players on both sides were super careful and respectful to their opponents. Then, PSG decided to go aggressive, and they chose a great moment for this. After attacking at various spots on the map, PSG Talon got five clear kills.

PSG started snowballing their gold, but FlyQuest weren’t out of the match at all. They initiated a fight around Baron and won it. Suddenly, the advantage of PSG Talon evaporated.

Ivern of Inspired turned out to be a great pick. The shielding ability from this Champion helped Renekton of Bwipo be super aggressive and still survive in dare situations. This really allowed FLY to win team fights. PSG struggled a lot as they missed the moment when their LoL Champions, and specifically Ahri and Jhin, were already behind in terms of power. They couldn’t deliver the first kill and then had no proper damaging tools in their arsenals.

FlyQyest got Cloud Soul and Baron. The Nexus of PSG was their next easy victim in this LoL Worlds 2024 match.

“It feels good [to get revenge for MSI 2024 on PSG]. I never really had a grudge against PSG or anything. I do really respect them… They are a very good team. It feels good beating them. [...] Throughout the year, especially in summer, we grew a lot as a team. We became a lot closer, and we played more coherently together. But I do think we have a long way to go, and I think we can definitely make it.”

Weibo Gaming vs G2 Esports — WBG 0:1 G2. G2 Esports won the match.

BrokenBlade proved his reputation as an experimental top laner and took Galio to the match, one of the most unusual picks. This brought G2 a quick First Blood. But soon. WBG made the kill score even thanks to a great team attack. Beyond that, the early game was tense but slow.

G2 secured six Voidgrubs while WBG were reluctant to fight for this objective. They got two Dragons instead. In their turn, G2 Esports destroyed the first turret and got ahead in terms of gold.

G2 played reasonably carefully, avoiding risky fights. They secured a few turrets and Herald. But when a massive team fight happened, Weibo Gaming won it, even if with losses too.

The game slew down after that . The teams exchanged objectives: WBG abandoned a Dragon to get Baron. With the buff from the worm, Weibo Gaming still lost a mass fight, and G2 killed them all.

After removing Tarzan from the equation, G2 got themselves Baron and took down two Inhibitors of WBG. One more siege was needed to seal the deal. G2 Esports is with two wins and one loss at the LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss stage.

“Our HLE game was very crazy. I think we could win that game, it was really close. And I think we were in a very hard state; we were very creative: Caps was very smart, and on the side lane, BrokenBlade made a very good play. [...] We are 2:1 now. At the previous Worlds, we also were 2:1, and we remember what happened then. I don’t think we have lots of expectations. We just play as we do. We play our game, and whoever we face, we will do our best to beat them. And I think we are gonna win and qualify for Paris.”

1:1 — How did it happen?

It’s not too bad of a result for most teams to have a 1:1 score at this stage of the League of Legends World Championship. A lot depends on the draw’s randomness. Some teams got super strong opponents, and the best-of-one format of Day 1 and Day 2 did not let them adapt and recover.

At the same time, seeing such teams as T1 and BLG having one loss and not being qualified for the quarter-finals yet? It’s weird — and exciting at the same time, as we will be able to witness even more matches of these legends.

Top Esports vs Fnatic

TES started their run at the LoL World Championship 2024 with a powerful statement. They defeated T1 on Day 1 of the Swiss stage. Then, Top Esports lost to another Korean team, Gen.G Esports.

Fnatic also failed victims of Korean players. Their starting match vs Dplus KIA ended up with a loss for the European team. Still, FNC defeated GAM Esports in their second match.

Bilibili Gaming vs T1

BLG faced the 3rd EU team, MAD Lions KOI. As the favorites in that match, they just couldn’t drop this chance. The second opponent for Bilibili Gaming was another Chinese team: LNG Esports surprisingly defeated the first team from their region.

The defending World Champions, T1, started the Worlds 2024 run with a loss. Top Esports got that meaningful victory. On Day 2, T1 faced the Brazilian team paiN Gaming, and the T1 fans were pleased with the result this time.

PSG Talon vs FlyQuest

The last-standing team from the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), PSG Talon, lost to Hanwha Life Esports on Day 1 — the best team in Korea. But on Day 2, PSG defeated MAD Lions KOI.

The best North American LoL team, FlyQuest, defeated GAM Esports but then lost to Dplus KIA.

Weibo Gaming vs G2 Esports

WBG faced the winners of the Mid-Season Invitational 2024, Gen.G Esports, and Weibo Gaming lost that match. Their next opponent was Team Liquid, and the NA team could do just nothing.

As the best European team, G2 Esports has high expectations from this tournament. They got an emotional boost after the win vs paiN Gaming. But the match against HLE wasn’t that successful (despite great moments and brave plays from G2).

The LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss stage will have a little break after Round 3. The competition continues on Oct. 10 with a couple of elimination matches — for the teams that lost on Oct. 6. Stick around on esports.gg for all League of Legends news and updates!
