PSG Talon and paiN Gaming: Fight until the end

We could say that PSG Talon is feeling themselves this year! PSG Talon came to prove its value in this year's competition by winning the PCS with six wins and zero losses. Even though the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) didn't go too well, losing against G2 Esports in the first round of Stage 2, PSG Talon is not giving up on LoL Worlds 2024.

The Brazilian's paiN Gaming came to dethrone LOUD's presence in LoL Worlds. The last time paiN Gaming qualified for LoL Worlds was in 2015, having a short passage through MSI 2021. It is now time for paiN to show the power of the Brazilian LoL.

MSI 2021 was also the latest battle between PSG Talon and paiN Gaming where the teams played in the same group. PSG Talon qualified, but paiN Gaming went back home. This year, PSG won 3rd place in the MSI. Is it going to be the redemption game of paiN Gaming? Stay tuned!

Match Recap: PSG Talon vs. paiN Gaming

Welcome to the recap of the key moments of PSG Talon's victory. paiN Gaming ignited the hope for a trip to the next stage with a great performance in the first match, but the loss made PSG stronger.

Match 1

To the surprise of many fans, the match started out very balanced for both teams. PSG Talon tried to dive paiN's top laner Choi "Wizer" Eui-seok, but Jax came out alive. At 11 minutes, Wizer got first blood, and paiN killed five Voidgrubs as well as the Infernal Drake. The idea of PSG Talon outpowering the Brazilian team started to vanish.

Even though paiN was getting all the possible objectives, PSG Talon was still in control of the game. It was a slow game of patience and focus. Another kill, another objective. PSG simply couldn't fight back, paiN was going crazy, and the control of the game was in the hands of paiN. And then, the triple kill by Alexandre "TitaN" Lima dos Santos made the team and the Brazilian crowd go wild.

Against all odds, paiN Gaming won the first game. The fans were so wild in the crowd that they even started to dance with the caster. It was a great moment in the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany.

Match 2

The vibe was different. PSG Talon wasn’t here to play — they came to destroy. PSG opened the match with a double kill by jungler Yu "JunJia" Chun-Chia, who played with Skarner. The sense of control and aggression caused a lot of problems for paiN. There were no more slow games — this was all-out war.

The first 15 minutes were pure action, with PSG gaining too much control and growing too strong. It was pretty difficult for paiN to get out of that harsh situation. PSG, fueled by determination, dominated the LoL Worlds Play-In, walking through with confidence. They knew they had it in the bag.

Match 3

Everyone was feeling the adrenaline. What was coming next? Another great performance from PSG Talon or a turnaround for paiN Gaming? Then, Huang "Azhi" Shang-Jhih locked in Vayne. That pick made Wizer's Gnar suffer in lane. Totally unplayable!

PSG entered the match strong and were determined to win, but even if the top lane seemed miserable, paiN managed to get first blood on bot lane. Marcos "Cariok" Oliveira's Lee Sin and Choi "Kuri" Won-yeong's Alistar synergy was crucial to giving TitaN's Ashe an advantage. And paiN kept doing objectives. In nine minutes, they did them all.

The lack of range was making PSG's life harder, but the fight for the Rift Herald was extremely important to PSG to regain some confidence and game control. They were out for blood. Meanwhile, Huang "Maple" Yi-Tang's Akali was unkillable.

The game started to look sour for paiN, and there was nothing they could do more to win. Even when Maple's Akali died, the rest of the team killed all paiN Gaming players and ended the game. In the end, PSG Talon proved their superiority and clinched the victory.

PSG Talon will now play against MAD Lions KOI on Sept. 27.
