Linkin Park's comeback sparks rumors
On Sept. 5, Linkin Park announced their comeback seven years after the passing of Chester Bennington. The band introduced two new members: drummer Colin Brittain and singer Emily Armstrong. The latter shares lead vocals with Mike Shinoda.
They also revealed a new album titled "From Zero," set for an upcoming release on Nov. 15. They band then offered fans a preview of their new single "The Emptiness Machine" alongside a track named "Heavy Is The Crown."
LoL Esports drops a crown emoji and fans take notice
The rumor then started when LoL Esports responded to the band's announcement on X with a single crown emoji, which many saw as a possible nod to the track "Heavy Is The Crown." Interestingly, just the day before, Mike Shinoda himself had used a fire emoji in response to the Arcane Season 2 trailer, further fueling speculation.
Ashley Kang and G2 Esports Theories
The hints from both LoL Esports and Linkin Park did not go unnoticed. On Sept. 9, Korizon Esports' Ashley Kang highlighted these clues on X. On the same day, LoL Esports announced the Worlds 2024 schedule, featuring a crown symbol for the Worlds 2024 anthem that added more weight to the theory. G2 Esports also took notice, further intensifying the rumors.
Worlds 2024 Viego skin announced
Sept. 9 also marked the announcement of Viego as the champion to represent Worlds 2024. Viego, also known as "The Ruined King," is one of the few LoL champions associated with a crown, perfectly suitable for the theme. The Worlds 2024 Viego skin is set to launch on Sept. 25 with patch 14.19.

Another clue was also dropped on September 17 by LoL, showing what is highly likely to be a scene from the upcoming music video. The video (although without audio) features two thrones and also a crown that might tease "Heavy Is the Crown".
There is also a guitar in between the thrones, with an X user also pointing out its similarity to one used by Linkin Park's lead-guitarist, Mike Shinoda.
Worlds 2024 anthem and MV
The highly anticipated LoL Worlds 2024 anthem and music video is set to debut at 8 a.m. PT on Sept. 24. The anthem will be available on all major music streaming platforms, while the music video will be accessible on platforms like YouTube and Vevo.
Interestingly, Sept. 24 also coincides with Linkin Park’s performance at The O2 Arena in London, their fourth show of the year. This has led to speculation that the concert could be linked to the official announcement of “Heavy Is The Crown” as the LoL Worlds 2024 anthem.
