The live-action League of Legends show may be taking fans to Bilgewater.

Following the success of Arcane, Riot Games seems to be riding the adaptation wave as details of a live-action League of Legends series surface online.

Live-action League of Legends show to inherit The Last of Us producer

Reports originating from Vietnam uncovered details about the upcoming series, including its filming location and executive producer.

Rose Lam, global production director at Riot Studios, will be the executive producer of the show. Lam's previous productions include the adaptations of A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Last of Us.

Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism says that Lam and her crew surveyed filming locations in Vietnam and decided on Cát Bà Archipelago as "the ideal setting" for the project. Other locations that were considered include Japan, South Korea, and Thailand.

"Vietnam's natural beauty and cultural heritage make it an attractive destination for international film projects. He emphasized the importance of protecting natural heritage and the environment during filming, stating that Vietnam does not trade environmental preservation for economic benefits," Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Nguyễn Văn Hùng, says. "The Ministry will collaborate with Hải Phòng authorities to create favorable conditions for the film crew."

The live-action LoL show is also expected to promote Vietnam's image and improve tourism.

Cát Bà Archipelago is made up of 367 islands, with the largest being Cát Bà Island. The archipelago is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site.

What will the live-action LoL show be about?

While no confirmation that the adaptation will be about the League of Legends IP, all the other details practically lock it in. The only other viable IP for Riot to adapt is VALORANT, and given their shooter's technological setting, the filming location seems a bit odd.

Now, which portion of Runeterra will be adapted? Considering the geography of the setting, Bilgewater and Shadow Isles is a likely setting. This means we might see champions like Graves, Twisted Fate, Miss Fortune, and even Viego - a similar cast to the Ruined King: A League of Legends Story game.
