Riot shares full schedule for ERL and LEC Spring 2022. Still no in-person events next season

The LEC is coming back in full force for Spring 2022, though it still won’t feature an in-person Finals. Check out the dates including those for play-ins and playoffs.

Today, LoL Esports delivered much-awaited news for European LoL fans. They've announced that the LEC start date for the 2022 Spring Split will be January 14th, just two weeks into the new year.

Over the course of the season, there will be two Superweeks too, which have an extra day of games. In addition, the Playoffs are slated to begin on March 25th with the Finals on April 9th-10th.

Along with the LEC start date, the ERL league start dates were revealed as well. First off, accredited ERLs will begin on January 10th, while non-accredited ERLs start a week later, on January 17th.

After the ERL splits is the Amazon European Masters Spring, which brings the top-placed teams together for a month-long tournament. This will take place from April 4th to May 8th.

Still no in-person events for 2022

After such an electrifying 2021 season, with MAD Lions taking two championships and plenty of narratives developing around teams like Fnatic and G2 Esports, fans are looking forward to more action in 2022. Unfortunately, as part of the announcement, LoL Esports clarified that the entire season, including the Playoffs and Finals, will take place in the LEC studio.

As a result, we sadly won't have jam-packed stadiums yet. This is definitely disappointing since fans have waited for a long time to cheer their favorite teams in person, but it was shared back in October. However, nothing is confirmed for the Summer Split at this point. So hopeful attendees can keep their fingers crossed for then!

With the LEC Spring start date set, it'll be our first chance to see Team BDS in action, who join the league after Schalke 04's departure. Will MAD Lions be able to take a third consecutive championship? Or will legacy teams like G2 Esports and Fnatic rebound in search of the crown? Perhaps we'll see a new team rise and make a statement. There's all that and more to look forward to when the action starts in January!
