Worlds 2026 and 2027 will return to North America and Korea.

Riot Games has just confirmed the regions for the 2026 and 2027 World Championship (Worlds), as they return to two of their biggest regions – North America (NA) and Korea, respectively.

In a short developer update video from League of Legends today, the team confirmed the regions which will host many of their major esports events for the upcoming years. While we already knew that China will host the 2025 World Championship, NA and Korea will get their return of the prestigious event in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

MSI and Worlds take center stage

Before teams get to Worlds, another event is marked on the esports calendar: the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). As announced in the video featured above, Canada will host MSI in 2025, with Korea set for 2026 and a return to Europe in 2027.

Worlds, considered the pinnacle of the LoL esports events for each year, has already been confirmed for China for 2025. For the event, the Play-Ins and Swiss Stage will take place in Beijing before the Quarterfinals and Semifinals move to Shanghai. Finally, the Grand Finals for Worlds 2025 will take place in Chengdu, where a champion will be crowned. Although venues have not been confirmed just yet, these will be announced throughout the year, especially with the new season about to drop.

For Worlds 2026, League of Legends will return to NA for the first time since 2022. While we do not have any information on the various cities or states that will host each stage, NA fans are already rejoicing at the return. In 2027, we'll see Korea get its time in the spotlight again as Worlds will return for the first time there since 2018. The region's fans have had a lot to cheer for in recent times, especially with T1 taking another title in 2024. For 2027, they will surely be doing exactly the same.

With all the hype around the Noxus-themed season heading into League of Legends later today, the confirmation of global venues for esports in the upcoming years adds more fuel to the fire. With so much to look forward to, the game's esports scene continues to outshine the rest.
