ILLIT’s Minju set the gaming community abuzz after attending a LCK match, with fans hyped over her renowned Katarina mastery.

"This time, I want you, you, you, you, like it's magnetic." I'm pretty sure everyone in the world has already heard about this song, especially on TikTok. It is called "Magnetic" by ILLIT and broke a record by reaching 500 million streams on Spotify, and becoming the fastest debut song to reach this milestone. Now, Minju, one of the members, is been talked about within the esports community for her appearance in the LCK.

Minju in the LCK

Minju is a 20-year-old South Korean singer from ILLIT, a very popular group in K-pop. She debuted in the group in 2024, and they became astronomic pop stars. Everyone was listening to their songs. But Minju, it's not only a singer, she is a gamer as well.

On April 2, she made an appearance in the LCK opening game - and one of the most anticipated matches of the day - between Hanwha Life and Gen.G. The match ended up 0-2 with Gen.G going home with a solid victory. But everyone was talking about Minju because she was in the crowd and all the attention was on her.

A Katarina main

Not only does she stand out for being super popular in South Korea, but also because in the last weeks, she talked about her gaming experience, especially playing League of Legends.

In an interview, she revealed she started playing LoL in elementary school and has only been playing Katarina since then. Even with an intense K-pop idol schedule, she managed to get 700k points with Katarina. She revealed she picked Katarina because she was pretty and peaked Platinum playing her.

Two weeks ago, Minju and the other members of ILLIT played League of Legends in a chaotic but very funny experience. Minju was the one choosing the champions for the other girls because she was the only one who ever played the game. You can check out the whole video on YouTube with English captions on. And, of course, she carried the game playing as Katarina.

Caedrel and the Magnetic song

Minju's appearance in the LCK arena has been all over social media, and even Twitch streamer Marc Robert "Caedrel" Lamont, who was streaming the games like usual, commented on how he knew the song and loved it. "She is a Katarina one trick, respect", he said. If you never saw Caedrel dancing to Magnetic, you clearly need to see it now.

Minju came later to talk about her experience in LCK as something that she wanted to do for a while. It was her first time in the arena, and she commented that she was feeling a lot of emotions seeing the matches, but she enjoyed it very much. Fans even put her HUPU, a website where the Chinese League of Legends community votes for the best players in competitive matches.

Don't forget to stream ILLIT's songs on all platforms! Almond Chocolate (Korean version) is their latest single, and it's available everywhere.

That's all for now. Stick around for more League of Legends news, guides, and updates on esports.gg.
