A super team was just announced within the League of Legends scene. G2 and NORD esports are merging to create G2 NORD.

It’s always a good day when you find out two of the biggest teams in League of Legends have merged for a super team (that happens all the time, right?). Just announced, the two popular esports teams, G2 and NORD Esports, have announced they are creating a new League of Legends team together called G2 NORD.

Here is everything we know about the new team.

G2 and NORD Esports merge to create new League of Legends team

In a recent announcement, both G2 and NORD Esports announced an official merger to create a new League of Legends team called G2 NORD. The team was created primarily to compete in the Prime League, which is one of League’s biggest leagues (so many leagues).

Tolkien, a legend within the League of Legends (so many legends now, wow) scene, will spearhead this merger, leading the new team.

The new team has made their mission clear: to be the best League of Legends team in Germany and possibly the world, bridging together too amazing competing teams to create a super team.

The team hopes to operate as an academy, pulling in new and fresh players, building up an ecosystem that allows upcoming League of Legends pro players to thrive.

CEO of NORD Esports shares his excitement

While both teams are incredibly excited to be apart of this merger, the official CEO of NORD Esports went on record to share his excitement.

With the G2 NORD project, a lifelong dream is becoming reality,” said Michel Klepper, CEO and co-founder of NORD Esports.“From the very beginning, our goal has been to develop the best young talents, give fans a team to cheer for and take them with us on this exciting esports journey. With G2 and Tolkin, we have found the perfect combination to bring this vision to life.”

What’s more humbling is Klepper’s love for G2, as he shared his excitement to work with and learn from the team, which is wildly considered one of the best esports teams in the world, especially in the League scene.

“G2 gives us the incredible opportunity to learn from the most successful team in the West and at the same time Tolkin is the ideal bridge to the community. The German esports scene is one of the biggest and strongest in Europe, but in recent years it has lost some momentum. G2 NORD is its wake-up call. Los geht’s!”

This is a revolutionary move for the world of esports. Time to sit and wait to see how this merger plays out.
