FlyQuest makes history with first-ever LCS title in Summer 2024

The League Championship Series (LCS) 2024 has crowned FlyQuest as their new champion for the Summer Split, following the team's victory against the fan-favorite Team Liquid Honda in the Grand Finals with a final score of 3-1.

The deciding Best-of-5 matches between FlyQuest and Team Liquid Honda were held on September 7 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles's Hollywood Park., with the champion bringing home USD $100,000 while the runner-up received USD $50,000.

Team Liquid Honda, favored to win the tournament, had a strong performance with a perfect 7-0 record in the Group Stage. They continued their domination in the Playoffs by winning all Upper Bracket matches, including defeating FlyQuest by 3-2 in the Upper Bracket Finals.

Meanwhile, in the Lower Bracket Finals, FlyQuest dominated 100 Thieves with a 3-0 score, securing their second chance to get revenge against Team Liquid Honda. Team Liquid Honda's impressive form throughout the split led the community to believe they would defeat FlyQuest and win the Split, as they had done in the Finals of the LCS 2024 Spring.

The deciding Best-of-5 matches started with a first win going to FlyQuest, with a score of 15-3 in a 32-minute game. However, Team Liquid Honda was able to even the score during the second game, with a 22-10 victory in a 26-minute game.

FlyQuest was able to gain the upper hand after winning the third game, reaching match point, and eventually securing victory with a dramatic minions base rush at the 39-minute mark, defeating the LCS 2024 Spring champion with a score of 3-1.

This victory not only crowned FlyQuest as the LCS Summer 2024 champion and secured them the LCS Seed #1 spot for Worlds 2024, but also marks a historic moment for the organization as it represents their first LCS title. The community agrees that the Summer Split was full of surprises, especially following Cloud9's absence from Worlds.
