Here is every team that will be competing at MSI 2023, which team and region are you rooting for?

MSI 2023 is fast approaching with the best teams in the world looking to pick up the first available international trophy of the season. Teams will do battle at the Copperbox Arena in London, England, as they compete with a new international format. Esports.gg has put together the complete team lineup for MSI 2023, highlighting the team's stories on the road to London.

Gen.G

Gen.G successfully retained their spot at the top of the LCK after an impressive victory over T1 in the spring grand finals. Despite their tenured success in League of Legends - which includes a World Championship run, this is the first time Gen.G will be appearing at MSI. The same can be said for Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon who won his first Spring Split this year.

T1

It wouldn't be an international competition without the presence of Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and T1. T1 booked their spot for MSI 2023 after making it to the LCK spring finals. Unfortunately for T1, their string of grand-finals losses continues after losing 3-1 to Gen.G. A T1 victory at MSI would see the LoL powerhouse become the most winningest team in the competition's history. Currently, T1 is tied with RNG at two MSI victories apiece.

JDG

JD Gaming continues to be the top team in the LPL as they, like Gen.G and Cloud9, have won back-to-back championships. It was smooth sailing for the most part in the spring playoffs. JDG's only test was in their opening series against Bilibili Gaming, which went to five games. Ruler is back on the international stage, this time in JDG colors. The former world champion has the opportunity to meet up with his former organization (Gen.G) in the bracket stage.

Bilibili Gaming

Another debutant at this year's Mid-Season Invitational is Bilibili Gaming. The LPL squad booked their ticket to their first international event after reaching the LPL finals. Although they would lose to JDG, BLG secured a ticket to MSI thanks to the new format which sends two teams from major regions. Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin is the only returning champion from the 2022 RNG squad that hoisted the trophy last year.

MAD Lions

MAD Lions punched their ticket to MSI 2023 in the most entertaining way possible, MAD reverse swept BDS in the LEC spring finals to win the championship. This win meant Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer joined the elite club of players who have won in both Europe and North America. MAD Lions will directly seed into the bracket stage, sending G2 Esports down into the play-ins.

G2 Esports

G2 Esports was the first team to qualify for this year's MSI. The former Mid-Season Invitational champions punched their ticket to the event after winning the inaugural LEC winter split. This year's LEC format meant the winner of Winter would guarantee themselves a spot at MSI. Unfortunately for G2, they could not secure the number one seed in spring, meaning they will start life in the play-ins.

Cloud9

Cloud9 cemented their spot at the top of the LCS after a 3-1 victory over Golden Guardians in the spring split grand finals. This win marked the organization's sixth LCS title, just one behind TSM at seven. This is the second time C9 will be attending the Mid-Season Invitational. Cloud9's first appearance at the event was one they would like to forget as they failed to make it out of the group stage along with notable moments such as losing to Australia's Pentanet.GG and Robert "Blaber" Huang's infamous Skuttle play.

Golden Guardians

Golden Guardians shocked the LCS scene to its core by securing a spot at MSI. For a team that was predicted by many to be near the bottom of the standings, GGS has defied all expectations to reach its first international tournament. MSI 2023 marks the return of Trevor "Stixxay" Hayes to the international stage for the first time since 2016. Stixxay and Choi "huhi" Jae-hyun was part of the famous CLG roster that made the MSI finals that year.

PSG Talon

PSG Talon in recent years has been the staple side for the PCS at international competition. PSG had to scratch and claw through the early stages of the PCS spring playoffs. Their opening two series against CFO and Impunity both went to five games. Their only dominant series was ironically in the grand finals, where they would limit Frank Esports to nine kills across three games.

VCS

GAM Esports

With VCS teams finally being able to compete on the big stage, fans will be excited to see the famous and aggressive GAM Esports take to the international stage once again. GAM built a legacy out of chaotic League of Legends, spearheaded by Đỗ "Levi" Duy Khánh. GAM qualified for the MSI play-in stage by winning the VCS spring playoffs. GAM took down SBTC Esports 3-1 in the finals.

LJL

DetonatioN FM

Another MSI 2023 team that has become a household name over the years is DFM. The Japanese squad has been the staple representative for the region and is attending year another international event. Legendary Japanese ADC Yuta "Yutapon" Sugiura continues his long-lasting legacy with DFM at MSI. The veteran bot laner has been with the roster since 2016, attending every international event DFM has qualified for.

LLA

Movistar R7

Movistar R7 is returning to the international stage for the first time since the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. The League of Legends squad has changed names multiple times throughout their history in the esport. From Lyon Gaming to Rainbow7, Movistar R7 is the most decorated team in Latin America with 14 championships to their name. R7 qualified for MSI after winning the 2023 LLA Opening playoffs.

The final MSI 2023 team on our list is the Brazilian squad LOUD. LOUD have been making waves in both the League of Legends scene and the VALORANT scene. Although Brance is no longer with the roster, LOUD produced a hilarious moment during the 2022 League of Legends World Championship. After killing Fnatic's bottom lane, the LOUD player rolled up their sleeves to reveal the words "bot gap" written on their arm.
