Worlds 2023: Every team qualified for Worlds

Want to know every team that has qualified for the 2023 League of Legends World Championship? Esports.gg has you covered. There will be twenty-two teams attending the biggest esports spectacle of the year, all vying for an opportunity to lift the prestigious Summoners Cup. Although domestic competition is still ongoing, we are starting to see the first few teams qualify for the South Korean event.

Worlds 2023 will feature many of the best teams in the world, including four from the LPL and four from the LCK. A best-of-five grudge match will decide whether the LCS or the LEC will send a fourth seed to Worlds. To round it out Worlds will feature several familiar regions such as Vietnam, Brazil, and Latin America. Here is every team that will be competing at Worlds 2023.

There should be no doubting JDG is one of the favorites heading into the 2023 World Championship. JDG has an opportunity to complete the clean sweep of winning all four trophies available to them. JDG won the LPL spring split, MSI 2023, and most recently took down LNG in the summer split playoff finals. The LPL powerhouse became the first team to qualify for Worlds after earning enough championship points. After the playoffs, however, JDG has now locked in that important number-one seed.

Having made it to the finals of MSI 2023, and pushed JDG as far as possible, it should be no surprise to see Bilibili Gaming returning to the international stage. Despite having finished third in the LPL Summer split after playoffs, fans of BLG know this is no reason to expect any less from them. With Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage in their sights, could this be the tournament they come out on top and show that JDG beating them at MSI finals was just a teaser for their upcoming international domination?

While not everyone may be familiar with the LNG Esports name on the international stage, their roster features some very familiar faces including Chen "GALA" Wei, formerly of RNG, and Lee "Scout" Ye-chan, previously on Edward Gaming. Having finished first in the LPL regional finals, this team is raising expectations for what we will see from them in Seoul. This will also be LNG’s first time on the Worlds stage since 2021 and it’ll be exciting to see what they have changed during that time and how they stack up against the other major region teams.

Another perhaps unfamiliar team to international fans is Weibo Gaming who have earned their place at Worlds 2023, the first in the history of the organization. But just because this will be the team’s first Worlds, doesn’t mean we should expect any less from this star-studded LPL roster, which features some big names. Former RNG player Li "Xiaohu" Yuanhao is the mid-laner, while Worlds 2020 Suning finalist Wei "Weiwei" Bo-Han features in the jungle. And if that wasn’t enough Hung "Karsa" Hao-Hsuan, who played on Top Esports, and reverse-swept Fnatic at Worlds 2020, is joining the team in South Korea as the substitute.

On top once more, Gen G is returning to the international stage in their home region as the top LCK representative after beating T1 at the regional LCK finals for the back-to-back title. Having finished within touching distance of the podium at MSI 2023, we’re expecting Gen G to come back hungrier and more determined to make the top three than ever. With a strong mid jungle in Han "Peanut" Wang-ho and Jung "Chovy" Ji-hun, Gen G’s Worlds 2023 run is in safe hands and it’ll be interesting to see if the top LCK team can keep the Worlds trophy in Korea for another year or if the LPL will claim it off them in their back and forth rivalry.

Perhaps the most iconic org in League of Legends history, T1 return to the international stage following their MSI 2023 run which ended in third place. Despite his wrist injury, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok will be competing on home soil for the Worlds trophy alongside the rest of his star-studded team, with the addition of Kim "Sky" Ha-neul as a sub for the mid-lane. Having finished in second place at the end of the LCK, the pressure will be on T1 to show that they can repeat MSI and beat the LPL teams to keep the regional pride of the LCK alive after the LPL won MSI 2023. Will T1 be able to ensure the Worlds trophy remains in Korea?

Making their first Worlds appearance since 2018, KT Rolster proudly finished first in the LCK at the end of Summer 2023. KT Rolster has a long-standing history within the LCK, having created their first team during Season 3 in 2012, and been active since. The current roster includes Gwak "BDD" Bo-seong and Kim "Aiming" Ha-ram both of whom have been playing in the LCK for many years, with Aiming having played in the LPL, while BDD attended Worlds 2021 as part of Korean powerhouse Gen.G.

Having won Worlds 2020 and come close several times since, Worlds 2023 will see the return of Dplus KIA (previously known as Damwon) return to the Worlds stage after finishing seventh at Worlds 2022. Dplus KIA finished second at the LCK regional finals, and we can expect some banger matches as this team fights to make it even further up the leaderboard for Worlds 2023. With Worlds 2020 winning mid-jungle of Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu and Heo "Showmaker" Su, and the addition of Worlds 2022 winner Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu, this roster just might lift that trophy again.

G2 Esports will be returning to the international stage and South Korea once more with their star-studded roster that finished fifth at MSI 2023. With this appearance being their seventh on the international stage, G2 will be hungry to go up against BLG again - as BLG knocked them out at MSI 2023, as well as to prove that Europe can compete and beat the eastern regions. There is regional pride at stake and the dream to win Worlds, keep your eyes on G2 Esports, this just might be the year Europe takes Worlds for themselves. 

Having finished seventeenth at Worlds 2022, it is all to prove for MAD Lions as they jet off to Seoul for Worlds 2023. Sharing the third seed spot with G2 Esports, MAD Lions have a lot to prove and a lot to accomplish for this Worlds, but having seventh at MSI 2023 they are in a strong position to show their skill and talent on the international stage once more. But with the stable support of Zdravets Iliev "Hylissang" Galabov and the strength of jungler Javier "Elyoya" Parades Batalla, MAD is in safe hands as they head to Seoul to beat their Worlds 2022 record and show that they aren’t the same MAD that fans have previously underestimated.

Despite only having just returned to the LCS, NRG are already showing up in top form as they head to Worlds 2023. The stacked roster of players has really shown up this season and are headed to South Korea after beating MSI 2023 representatives Cloud9 at the finals. Having qualified for the Swiss Stage, NRG will get to show up against the other major region teams and show just how well they show up internationally.

A crowd favorite for the LCS will be returning once again as Cloud9 prepares to show up in Seoul for their eighth Worlds appearance. Despite having been beaten ultimately in the LCS by the new iteration of NRG, C9 is still expected to show big things at Worlds 2023 and demonstrate just why they are considered a top LCS team. Having finished sixth at MSI 2023, all eyes will be on the bot lane of Kim "Berserker" Min-cheol and Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen to deliver results, while many fans will be keen to see if Robert "Blaber" Huang will die for the crab once more. 

With a Worlds 2022 winner in Hong "Pyosik" Chang-hyeon sat firmly in their roster, all eyes are on Team Liquid as they make their return to the international stage - having last played at Worlds in 2021 and not qualified for an MSI since 2019. Having finished third in LCS, and secured a strong roster with several players having experience of playing in the LPL and LCK, fans will be watching closely to see what this roster can bring to the international stage and how they stack up against Europe as well as the Eastern teams.

Guess who’s back, back again, PSG Talon make their third appearance at Worlds as part of the PCS region with the strength of regional pride and talent behind them. Some familiar faces will be returning with Huang "Maple" Yi-Tangin the mid-lane and Yu "JunJia" Chun-chia who formerly played on Rare Atom and Edward Gaming. After their success at MSI 2023, fans will be expecting big things from the PCS representative who is most recognizable on the international stage and hugely popular with fans around the world. 

Last seen on the international stage at Worlds 2022, CTBC will be making their return for Worlds 2023 after failing to beat PSG Talon to appear at MSI 2023. This year’s appearance at Worlds will be their second ever and comes with the regional pressure to show the strength of not only the PCS but also the other minor regions that were amalgamated into the PCS. While some of their players maybe unfamiliar names, there is a lot of experience between them, with players having played in the LPL, NA’s Academy, and having been long-standing players in the former Taiwan/Hong Kong and Macau regions (LMS).

After a crushing defeat and knockout of MSI 2023, many were hoping GAM Esports would make it to Worlds 2023 and get to show up on the international stage once more. GAM must have heard our hopes as they will join the other wildcard region teams at Play-Ins for a chance to face off against the major region in the Swiss Stage. GAM Esports have only been to two Worlds previously finishing between fifteenth and sixteenth place respectively, maybe the third time will be a charm and we will see them climb the leaderboard. 

The infamous and loveable Japanese powerhouse of DFM will be making their fifth appearance at Worlds, after cleaning up the LJL Summer. For fans of DFM, their continued appearances on the international stage are exciting alone but having dominated their home region, we’re expecting some fireworks on the international stage. DFM will also begin their Worlds 2023 run through Play-Ins against the other wildcard region teams including GAM Esports and others.

Returning to the international stage for the second time this year, Moviestar R7 will be playing at Worlds for the second time in their history. R7 has proven they are at the top of the Latin America region and during their time at MSI 2023 showed they were ready to push the region further than ever before. Fans of R7 will be hoping they can continue this success and push the legacy of the LLA even further with progression at Worlds 2023 out of the Play-Ins stage and towards the Swiss Stage.
