DWG.KIA are looking to make their way to the LoL World Championships semifinals after a dominant game 1 against the LEC’s MAD Lions.

DWG.KIA vs MAD Lions is a battle between the reigning LCK and LEC Champions. And while both have been touted as creating their own eras in respective regions, many favored DAMWON in this series. Especially, after DWG.KIA demolished the MAD Lions in a 30-minute opener to the 3rd Worlds quarterfinals series of the 2021 LoL World Championship.

And even after a strong MAD Lions early game, DWG.KIA’s late-game teamfighting overpowered the MAD Lions usual strengths. Ultimately, MAD Lions were unable to bounce back in the series as DWG.KIA take it 3-0.

MAD Lions put up decent early game fight against DWG.KIA

The MAD Lions put up a strong fight in the first 11 minutes of the series and held an even gold lead. However, within the next three minutes, DWG.KIA were able to snowball a lead through the botlane, whilst the other lanes began to win out. Overall, it was a mid-game pasterpiece from the reigning World Champions as they now lead the series 1-0.

For LEC fans, while it was a stomp, there is still hope. The MAD Lions were able to show strong resillience during DAMWON's successful mid-game. Throughout the majority of DWG.KIA's winning skirmishes, they were able to hold the gold lead to within just 4k. That all changed immediately once the baron spawned as DWG.KIA took the purple objective immediately at the 20-minute spawn timer.

DWG.KIA are now just one games away from their semifinals matchup against T1. As of right now, the semifinal matchup is looking to be a rematch of the LCK Semifinals. That being said, the MAD Lions now have time to readjust. Moving forward, the MAD Lions will need to fix their draft and mid-game. In particular, the LEC first seed will need more engage through their mid-jungle duo.

MAD Lions better early in game 2, but still fail to beat DWG.KIA

It was night and day for the MAD Lions between games 1 and 2. The main fix to it all was a better draft for laning and mid-jungle engage.

In the first 10-minutes, the MAD Lions composition was put to work as Elyoya stormed over the DWG.KAI laners in the early game. Specifically, many of Elyoya’s paired ganks with MAD Lions support Kaiser were masterful as DWG. KIA’s Khan struggled to make any impact on the Kennen throughout the game.

Unfortunately, the LEC squad were unable to maintain a near 7k gold lead over the MAD Lions and were outplayed in the late-game by DWG.KIA.

How can MAD win the DWG.KIA MAD Lions quarterfinal?

If the MAD Lions want to continue to challenge DWG.KIA, they will need to do one of two things. They will need to counteract some of DWG.KIA's early advances past the 10-minute mark or stall it out to the MAD Lions strong late-game
