After three months of point gathering, the top 16 Hearthstone players in the world will compete in the Spring Championship this weekend with Twitch Drops enabled for the fans. The first Hearthstone Esports event for 2023 will feature two days of intense gameplay and will award one World Championship invitation as well as $50,000 in prizes.
Hearthstone Spring Championship
The Spring Championship will be the final instance of the first Hearthstone esports season for 2023. The event will have $50,000 in prizes and what's more important, it will give the winner a World Championship invitation. On top of that, fans will be able to earn free Hearthstone packs with Twitch Drops while watching.
The 16 players that made it into this event had to accumulate points via Ladder finishes in the first three months of the year. This is the full player list:
- Americas: uikyou (Canada), McBanterFace (US), GamerRvg (US) and Mesmile (Canada)
- Europe: PocketTrain (UK), Meati (UK), reqvam (Croatia) and Casie (Germany)
- APAC: Surrender (Korea), hemlock (Korea), gyu (Korea) and Tansoku (Japan)
- Wildcards: Jarla (Czech Republic), Wolder (Ukraine), saudi (Sweden) and levik (Russia)

How to get free packs with Twitch Drops during the Hearthstone Spring Championship
If you've been following the Hearthstone scene, you probably know how Twitch Drops work and have probably been farming free packs for this expansion. You can get 2 Festival of Legends Hearthstone packs for free during the weekend. Blizzard didn't specify how many hours you need to watch but it's probably 4 in total.
Drops will be available on the official Hearthstone broadcast on Twitch. These are the details:
One thing to highlight is that the former invited caster, Edelweiss, is once more on the main screen after an outstanding performance last year. Talking about casters, both Jia and Darroch announced their retirement from casting. We will miss the APAC casting couple.

Spring Championship Details
The first seasonal tournament for 2023 will follow a similar format to previous seasonal events. The Spring Championship will feature two stages of the competition. First, players will be divided into 4 Doble-Elimination groups, where they will clash in best-of-five conquest matches.
Two players from each group will advance to the final Top 8 playoffs. This instance will feature a single elimination bracket where players will fight until there is only one man standing!
Participants are allowed to co-stream their points of view, so make sure you are following your favorite players. Moreover, Blizzard opened the possibility for community co-streams. If you are interested in that, you can apply at the following link.
