Be a pirate for a day before you decide to be one for life with an 8-hour long Skull and Bones free trial.

Skull and Bones went through multiple closed betas. It then finished off its testing period with an open beta for everyone, as progressed carried over into the full launch. Did you miss one of those betas and are still on the fence? Then you have another chance with a Skull and Bones free trial.

That's right, Ubisoft is offering a free trial for anyone who wants to take a deeper dive into Skull and Bones before purchasing it. You can play for eight hours, unrestricted. It is the full game, so as much as you can accomplish in that time is what you'll experience.

There is much more than eight hours of content in Skull and Bones. But the free trial period should be plenty of time for you to get your sea legs, your feet wet, whatever pun you want to throw overboard.

You'll be able to create a character, build your first ship, customize it with a load of cosmetics, and meet some dastardly pirates who want to help you as much as they'd turn on you in an instant.

While Early Access is over, the standard global launch of Skull and Bones is here. You can still buy the Premium Edition for some extra goodies, and this trial can help you decide if the game is for you.

It's important to note that there's no land combat, boarding rival ships is just a quick cutscene, and it is very much an arcade-like pirating simulator. In this game, you are most definitely the ship with a captain avatar just to add a bit more depth.

If you've made up your mind already, then you've made up your mind already. That's all there is to it. If you want to see if Skull and Bones is for you, give the free trial a go. There's no harm in that.

If you do decide to purchase the game after playing the eight hour trial, you're progress will carry over. No need to start fresh. Your pirate captain will be waiting for you, with full cross-play and cross-progression capabilities.
