Razer BlackShark V3 Pro features and review

After testing the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro ourselves, we can say that the Gen-2 TriForce 50 mm drivers and THX Spatial Audio stand out the most. These features provide clear, directional sound, which makes it easier to pinpoint enemy locations in a game like Overwatch 2. We can quickly hear footsteps from behind, above, or below the moment a match starts.

Enemy heroes always give themselves away whenever they're not crouching to make themselves quieter, and this headset makes small mistakes by players even more noticeable. Reaper's flanking attempts seem louder, and the same goes for Sombra, Moira, plus other heroes who are more light on their feet compared to Reaper. With this level of audio detail, the days of Talon shenanigans in the backline may be numbered.

According to Razer, the drivers use bio-cellulose diaphragms, which help separate different frequencies more clearly. Meanwhile, the redesigned driver plug cuts downs on harmonic distortion by 50% and increases the magnet field strength by 75%. All of this makes it easier to pick up said audio cues.

The headset also does a solid job at blocking out background noise thanks to its hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology. We can definitely see this feature being useful at tournaments or crowded events. As for the detachable 12 mm mic, it sounds clear and picks up our voice without a problem during matches.

Razer BlackShark V3 Pro review: Customizations that go beyond gaming

We can create and customize our own sound profiles as well. A quick press of the button on the right side of the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro lets us rotate through built-in modes for esports, general gaming, music, and movies. There are even special esports presets for titles like Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), VALORANT, Call of Duty, and Apex Legends. These profiles make it easy to get started on fine-tuning the audio.

As for comfort, the BlackShark V3 Pro fits snugly without feeling too tight. Its FlowKnit memory foam ear cushions stay breathable during long gaming sessions, and the closed-back design with a layer of plush leatherette further improves noise isolation and sealing. All in all, these design choices strike a good balance between breathable comfort and sound control compared to fully leatherette ear cups that can trap heat.

Razer introduced the BlackShark back in 2012 for competitive Battlefield play, and it quickly gained a reputation for being reliable. As of July 2025, the BlackShark V2 Pro ranks as the top headset on ProSettings. Now, the new BlackShark V3 Pro continues this legacy with useful features for those who are interested in a competitive edge.

The Razer BlackShark V3 Pro costs $249.99 USD and is now available via Razer's official website and select retailers worldwide.
