Palworld reached a very specific set of gamers when it was first revealed. The Pokémon game with guns now seems to have been picked up by people from all walks of gaming life. This has seen Palworld sell over 2 million copies in its first 24 hours of availability.
Playable through Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Steam, it is a survival adventure, and creature collecting title that is breaking records. Not only has it sold so many copies across platforms, it has broken into the top 10 of concurrent Steam players.
Palworld sales hit 1 million in 8 hours then 2 million in 24 hours
The equivalent of Pokémon trainers in Palworld is Pal Tamers. There have been millions of them since the game launched. The game has truly taken the world by storm, as there are hundreds of thousands of live viewers at any given time on Twitch.
Certain content creators received early access to this game that is already considered in Early Access. There’s no doubt that their partnership with developer Pocketpair in getting the word out about Palworld contributed to its success and its 2 million sales within a single day.
For comparison, Pokémon is a much more known product. It’s most recent entries of Scarlet and Violet sold 10 million combined units in its first three days. That’s two games in the best-selling media franchise of all time, whereas Palworld can be considered a virtual unknown until today.
Palworld breaks into the Steam Charts of concurrent players
During Palworld’s 2 million in sales, it has proven to be a force on Steam. At the time of writing, it sits at in the number 10 spot for highest concurrent players ever. A whopping 855,706 played Palworld on Steam at the same time, and this doesn’t even include PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass players.
Even more impressive, the concurrent player numbers have hardly dipped under 800,000. This also puts it just behind Counter-Strike’s 24-hour peak of 1 million players. It’s a lot of space between spot one and two, but what a triumph.
