Nickelodeon's beloved sea sponge, SpongeBob Squarepants, has made his initial descent into Fortnite, but perhaps not as you'd expect. Where some characters immediately become in-game skins, Paramount Game Studios has instead collaborated with Zoned to create four immersive to create SpongeBob-themed UEFN maps.

These creative experiences allow players to visit Bikini Bottom and see some of the show's most iconic characters. Here's everything you need to know about SpongeBob in Fortnite!

Players have four SpongeBob-themed Fortnite maps to choose between, including reimagined versions of Prop Hunt, Red vs. Blue, and Only Up.

Although Epic Games does not sponsor these maps, Fortnite's official social media accounts shared a trailer with 19.3 million followers. That includes a legitimate in-game model of SpongeBob Squarepants himself. The trailer also gives you an idea of what to expect when loading each map.

Could this be the start of a more significant crossover?

With Paramount owning Nickelodeon and its various intellectual properties (IPs), it's time to ponder whether a SpongeBob Fortnite skin could happen. The answer is absolutely.

We've already seen the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), which Paramount also owns, debut in-game as skins. Considering Epic Games has recently made Peter Griffin and Godzilla believable characters in Fortnite, there's no reason that SpongeBob can't join that illustrious group.
