Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi is coming to Fortnite, according to reputable leaks. Although details are sparse, the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner will appear in the game likely as an Icon Series skin “soon,” per another source.
This collaboration would bring arguably the most popular footballer to the game, expanding an already impressive lineup of athletes. Here’s what we know about the Fortnite x Messi collab and skin.

Fortnite x Messi: Everything we know
Prominent leaker HYPEX was the first to report this news, stating emphatically, “MESSI x FORTNITE IS COMING SOON.” Soon could mean anything, but fellow leaker iFireMonkey confirmed this crossover would occur “this update.”
For reference, Fortnite’s latest update dropped on Tuesday, Dec. 10, meaning the Lionel Messi Fortnite skin could arrive within the next week.
Various Fortnite-related accounts have mentioned the name “Streetwear Spark Messi.” As a result, we could see Messi's Fortnite skin wearing regular street clothes instead of a football uniform. Although that’s all we know at the moment, more details should surface soon, considering Messi’s Fortnite collaboration will happen during this update.
A brief history of Fortnite and football stars
Messi’s upcoming Fortnite Icon Series collaboration leak has already gone viral, with some posts surpassing 1 million views. However, he’s not the first professional football star to partner with the popular game.
Brazilian player Neymar Jr. famously appeared during Chapter 2, followed by England’s Harry Kane and Germany’s Marco Reus one month later.
That surprisingly covers the extent of Fortnite’s partnerships with football players. However, the game does feature various other football-style skins. The Messi x Fortnite skin brings this concept to another level since he and Cristiano Ronaldo are unquestionably the faces of modern-day football.
