GonnaNeedMilk announces The Milk Cup featuring Fortnite

GonnaNeedMilk has announced The Milk Cup, which is a Fortnite competition for women.

The Milk Cup, for players in the U.S., has the largest prize pool ever for a North American women's esports event, $250,000, and features a LAN Championship.

GonnaNeedMilk has been a strong supporter of women in gaming and now they are teaming up with Women of the Erena (WOTE), Raidiant, and ThePeachCobbler. WOTE has previously hosted 11 large-scale Fortnite events for women and will be running tournament operations for The Milk Cup.

Raidiant is a women-led broadcast platform and will be producing event broadcasts with a full team of women. ThePeachCobbler is a Fortnite streamer and content creator who has hosted and competed in several women’s Fortnite events. Peach has and will continue to be a voice for the players to help deliver the most competitive experience to date for women in Fortnite! 

The Milk Cup schedule and format

The event will follow the following schedule:

  • Major 1 Qualifiers - May 16th
  • Major 1 Finals - May 23rd  
  • Major 2 Qualifiers - June 13th
  • Major 2 Finals - June 20th
  • Major 3 Qualifiers - July 18th
  • Major 3 Finals - July 25th
  • Championship - To be announced

The Milk Cup features the Battle Royale Trios game mode! The online stage consists of three Majors. First, each Major begins with Qualifiers. Qualifiers are open to all players who register and are approved. The Qualifiers will be separated into randomized set lobbies where teams will play six Battle Royale games.

The top teams from each lobby will advance to the Major Finals, which will have 33 teams in a single set lobby. Each Major Finals will be six Battle Royale games.

The top 11 teams from each Major Finals will earn their spot at the LAN Championship while the 12th to 16th place teams from Major Finals 1 and 2 will advance to the Finals of the next Major without having to play Qualifiers. The LAN Championship will be six Battle Royale games.

Scoring format

The Milk Cup will feature Trios and will use the same scoring format for all rounds. The scoring format will be as follows:

  • Victory Royale: 65 Points
  • 2nd: 56 Points
  • 3rd: 50 Points
  • 4th: 46 Points
  • 5th: 42 Points
  • 6th: 37 Points
  • 7th: 33 Points
  • 8th: 30 Points
  • 9th: 27 Points
  • 10th: 24 Points
  • 11th: 21 Points
  • 12th: 18 Points
  • 13th: 15 Points
  • 14th: 12 Points
  • 15th: 9 Points
  • 16th: 7 Points
  • 17th: 5 Points
  • 18th-20th: 3 Points
  • 21st-25th: 1 Point
  • Each Elimination: 2 Points

Prize pool

The total prize pool for The Milk Cup is $250,000! $25,000 will be awarded each Major to the top 11 teams that earn a spot at the LAN Championship. The remaining $175,000 will be awarded at the LAN Championship including a massive $75,000 for the 1st place trio!

Prizing will be awarded as follows:

Each Major:

  • 1st: $7,500
  • 2nd: $4,500
  • 3rd: $3,000
  • 4th: $2,250
  • 5th: $1,500
  • 6th: $1,250
  • 7th-11th: $1,000

LAN Championship: 

  • 1st: $75,000

The Milk Cup registration

The Milk Cup is open to women-identifying U.S. citizens, green card holders, students, and working visa holders who are living in the U.S. at the time of the tournament and who are at least 13 years old. Interested in playing or know someone who is? Here’s everything you need to do to register:

  1. First, visit GonnaNeedMilk’s website and complete the player registration form
  2. If you are under 18 years old, complete the parental consent form with your parent or guardian
  3. Once you have been approved as a player, you will receive an invite to the Event Hub Discord server
  4. After you have three team members, your team’s captain should complete the trio registration form located in the Discord server
