Hello Fortnite, I want to play a game.

October is upon us, and Fortnite players know what that means–it's almost time for the annual Fortnitemares 2024 event. This Halloween-themed occasion occurs annually in the game, bringing fun items, candy, and usually some collaborations to the Fortnite fandom.

Last year, "The Shape," known as Michael Myers from the Halloween franchise, was introduced into the game. Rumors for Fortnitemares 2024 indicate it could be time to play a game (insert epic Saw theme song). Here's what we know so far.

Fortnitemares 2024: When does the Halloween event begin?

Fortnitemares 2024 Countdown

Fortnite's next update goes live on Tuesday, Oct. 1. However, leakers have confirmed that this will not coincide with Fortnitemares 2024. Reliable source HYPEX has confirmed in an X post that Tuesday's update will be the "lead-up" update. He followed that information, stating the full event update should arrive between Oct. 11 and 15.

If history is any indicator, Oct. 15 will likely start, but the countdown above reflects an Oct. 11 start date. We expect to learn more this week as leaks tend to surface during each Fortnite update, so stay tuned for a more accurate start date and time.

What does Epic Games have in store for this year's Halloween event?

Apart from a creator callout by Epic Games for themed Fortnitemares 2024 maps, the developers have not confirmed much about the actual event. Based on the blog post, Epic Games seeks "highly social islands" with survival, escape, and social deduction themes. Selected maps will appear in a separate Fortnitemares 2024 tab.

From a leaked information perspective, the only relevant details revolve around a potential Fortnite x Saw collaboration. Yes, the Saw film franchise, known for its blood, traps, and violence, will crossover into Fortnite.

Soon, an old TV in the Castle Doom point of interest (POI) will feature Billy the Puppet from the Saw films. Fortnite leaker Wensoing believes three POIs will have their names changed to better suit Fortnitemares 2024.

Lastly, for now, at least, it's sage to assume that the usual Halloween-themed items such as candy, Witch Brooms, and Pumpkin Launchers will return for the event. Until then, check out the new Mrs. Incredible skin, a perfect Outfit for spooky season.
