The king of Fortnite has found his new home.

North America-based esports organization Dignitas announced today the signing of Fortnite superstar Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf. The 2019 Fortnite World Cup Champion and three-time Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) winner has earned more than $3.5 million in prize money–more than any other to play the game.

Many recognize Bugha as the best competitor in Fortnite history, given his success over the last four years. After a brief period in free agency, the 20-year-old has become the newest member of Dignitas Fortnite.

Dignitas announces the signing of Bugha

Bugha teased a significant announcement yesterday, leading many to question what would unfold and if it involved Fortnite. Sure enough, he revealed Dignitas as his new esports home. This decision follows Bugha's exit from Sentinels, with whom he spent nearly three years of his illustrious career.

Dignitas CEO Michael Prindiville commented on the addition of Bugha to the organization:

"We are thrilled to welcome Bugha to the Dignitas family," he said. "His incredible talent and competitive drive make him a perfect fit for our team, and we can't wait to see him represent Dignitas on the biggest stages in Fortnite."

Bugha joins a growing list of talented Fortnite players on Dignitas, including former duo partner Matthew "Mero" Faitel. The two won three FNCS titles together before splitting after the FNCS Invitational. Bugha has recently paired up with fellow FNCS winner PeterBot, and the two have finished first and second in weeks one and two of FNCS Major 1.

"I'm honored to be joining Dignitas and can't wait to get started," said Bugha. "I'm excited to represent one of the best teams in esports who believes in me and in the future of Fortnite and looking forward to competing with my new teammates, winning championships, and making a positive impact on the gaming industry together."

Most of those with knowledge of Fortnite may remember Bugha's $3 million payday at the 2019 Fortnite World Cup. However, that achievement merely scratches the surface of his career. Bugha has qualified for 15 out of a possible 16 FNCS Grand Finals.

Of those 16, he won three consecutive FNCS tournaments, proving he is the most decorated competitor in Fortnite history. In July 2021, two years after winning the Fortnite World Cup, Epic Games honored Bugha with an Icon Series collection. This achievement made him the only competitive Fortnite player with an in-game outfit.

The Fortnite World Champion's next chapter will occur under the Dignitas banner—an organization quickly becoming the most formidable in Fortnite.
