Have you recently gotten stuck on the infamous “checking for updates” Fortnite screen?

It can be extremely frustrating when all you want to do is hop on Fortnite and play with your friends, but the game just stays stuck on "checking for updates." So, how does someone fix this error? Well, it is quite easy.

Fortnite login timed out? Stuck on checking for updates? Here is how to fix the error

No one wants to be stuck on the infamous checking for updates screen. When the game times out, it sometimes forces people to shut off their console and walk away.

Well, what if there were a few easy fixes that could get you back on the Battle Bus in no time?

Here is every fix to the Fortnite checking for updates error.

1. Reset your console/PC

Sometimes, all you need to do is reset your console or PC. Just do a simple turn-off, let it sit for a few moments, and then turn it back on.

Sure, sounds incredibly blatant, but it really does work at times. The stereotypical question, "Did you try turning it off and back on again?" has meaning behind it. This really could be the fix that will get you back in the game.

2. Reset your internet router

If resetting your console or PC did not work, then sometimes a quick reset of the internet router will help. A big reason for Fortnite being stuck on checking for updates is because of internet issues. Your internet may be down or just need a reset.

Once you have reset your router, give it a few minutes and then try again. If it doesn't work, still, check to see if you can load other online games or browsers. If those don't work, either, then that may mean your internet is fully down. You would need to wait until your provider gets it back up.

3. Be patient

The last option for fixing this error, and possibly the hardest one, is to be patient. If none of the other fixes listed above worked, then that means there is an error on Fortnite's end.

Simply just give the game some time to fix things, and the game will be back up and ready to play. This also means that you aren't alone and that all gamers trying to play the Battle Royale are out of luck, so you aren't missing out on much.
