Get ready to drop back into OG Fortnite in an all-new game mode!

Epic Games dropped a bombshell today, confirming the return of the OG Fortnite map in a new game mode called Fortnite Reload. Due to launch on June 22 at 2 p.m. ET, the developers have fulfilled the dreams of long-time Fortnite players to make Fortnite OG its own experience entirely. Once the summer update drops tomorrow, Fortnite players can again land at Tilted Towers in all its glory.

What is Fortnite Reload? The long-awaited return of the OG map

The Fortnite Reload trailer indicates this is a new game mode with a new map and all your favorite points of interest (POIs) returning. Many have framed it as a "Mini Battle Royale."

In Fortnite Reload, ten squads of four players each will drop into a match of either Battle Royale and Zero Build and collect loot before engaging and eliminating opponents. You can play with friends or queue with random teammates to enjoy the experience.

Here's how the Fortnite Reload game mode works per the official blog post:

  • When eliminated, a player’s individual reboot timer starts. The player reboots at the end of the timer!
  • Reboot timers begin at 30 seconds and scale up to 40 seconds later in the match.
  • Remaining teammates can reduce reboot timers by 2 seconds by downing an opponent, 4 seconds by eliminating one, and 10 seconds by wiping an opposing squad.
  • When downed, players can opt to start their reboot timer right away instead of waiting for a revive.
  • Towards the end of the match, reboots will stop, meaning lost teammates will no longer return.

Here is a list of the locations shown in the video:

  • Tilted Towers
  • Pleasant Park
  • Lil' Loot Lake
  • Retail Row
  • Sandy Sheets
  • Lazy Laps

Tilted Towers, Pleasant Park, Loot Lake, and Retail Row are all OG Fortnite drop spots, with Lazy Laps and Sandy Sheets being the only outliers. It appears Sandy Sheets will be a beach point of interest. Lazy Laps may replace the racetrack POI from the OG Chapter 1 map.

In addition to the POIs mentioned, Epic Games has provided a list of weapons that the Fortnite Reload mode will feature in its loot pool, including the Heavy Assault Rifle, OG Heavy Shotgun, and more. However, fans can expect the OG loot pool based on the ultra-successful Fortnite OG season.
