Fortnite OG returns in December, Epic confirms it’s permanent

Mere days after reliable Fortnite leakers revealed that Fortnite OG would return permanently in December, Epic Games has confirmed the report.

In a post sent out by the game's official social media channels, the team behind Fortnite has said the Fortnite OG Chapter 1 experience is coming back and it is permanent. The post has since received an incredible amount of impressions as players look forward to its return next month.

The official Fortnite X account has confirmed the initial reports Fortnite OG will return on Dec. 6, following the release of Fortnite Chapter 6. That means players can play classic Fortnite and see what Chapter 6 offers.

Following the success of last year's brief Fortnite OG Chapter 1 season, this decision was a no-brainer. With Fortnite Chapter 1 soon to be a permanent fixture, players can drop into the OG map with classic weapons whenever they please.

Based on the intel from last week, Fortnite OG's permanent return in December will begin with Chapter 1 Season 1. Then, each month will center around the next season in chronological order up to Season X before resetting to Season 1. The separate game mode will feature classic weapons, points of interest (POIs), and more to give players that warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feeling.

The response from the community at large has been overwhelmingly positive. Professional players and content creators Cody "Clix" Conrad and Kyle "Mongraal" Jackson, respectively, posted "NOWAY" and "W" in response.

These two, alongside hundreds of others, began their illustrious content creation careers in Fortnite Chapter 1. The initial boom in popularity will be historic. However, it's worth questioning how this could affect Fortnite Chapter 6.

A new map with weapons, mechanics, and more are on the horizon. Fortnite OG's permanent return could lessen the impact, but we must wait and see.
